I was in Carson City, NV for work and I agree with those who have recommended Reno/Lake Tahoe in NV. Tons of retirees there with the casinos and they are catered to at most establishments.

Contracted 2 1/2 years in Pierre and the humidity was extremely low. Wouldn't want to live in that ice box though, absolutely nothing to do.

The dry side of Oahu. One side of the island gets rain, the other side is in the rain shadow.
And it's an island (you knew that) but by being an island, the temperatures never get desert hot or interior of a continent cold/frigid/frozen solid.
