A city was bidding out a major project and had 3 bids from companies headed by 3 SEC grads.

The bids-
The company headed by the Aggie engineer bid $10K on the job.
The company headed by the Vandy engineer bid $15K on the job.
The company headed by the LSU engineer bid $30K on the job.

The sales pitches-
The A&M grad's pitch was with such Aggie expertise it's worth the money.

The Commodore's sales pitch was were are from the finest engineering school in the SEC, you pay for what you get and you are getting the best.

The LSU grad's company pitch was 10K for me, 10K for you, and we'll get the Aggie to do the work.

Guess which company got the job?

Because you are a useful idiot.

The better source is to take the time to RESEARCH IT YOURSELF. It CAN be one of the most important decisions one makes. You take your resume and first find what colleges you can get into. You then figure what colleges you can afford and colleges in places you would want to attend. You then narrow that down to ones that have the program you desire. This usually will not leave that many colleges. Then you try to find graduates and people currently attending which is not that tough. You ask them about the school. You look at starting salary numbers and things like placement services and internship opportunities.

It is not that hard and it is much better that relying on some 22 year old feeding surveys into a scanner.

Not Tulane.
Zero connections to industry.

As an alumni they piss me off to no end.
The fact that their dumbass liberal law school slanders industry here in Louisiana probably doesn't help either.

Go to a big state school.
LSU is fine.
I don't get why kids hate on LSU.

In the SE? Tech and AU by a large margin. TAMU more towards TX. UF has a great coastal program, but Tech and AU have flooded the market with grads and we keep it in house. Is what it is.

The Aggie company because they had the lowest bid.

A 27 ACT with strong grades is fine. Vanderbilt and GT are out, but all other schools mentioned will take a 27.

27 is lower middle-of-the pack for Purdue acceptance, FWIW. I'll generally toss in Purdue as a very good STEM option in these discussions.

That was able to provide a link when asked.

I get what you are saying but your answer is shite. The OP is asking for info. He is not asking for some douche canoe to tell him to provide his own answer.
It is OK if you are unable to provide a link. This does make it better to say so, or nothing at all.

I am originally from MS, but went to LSU for ChE and don't regret a second of it. I can say that with it being LSU, if you are doing chemical or petroleum you have some advantage just due to heavy involvement in the industry. MSU has a pretty good ChE department, too. Most of the grads I have came across in the oil/gas sector, though, have been LSU, State, Auburn, Florida, and a few aggies. I think any of these choices would be great if that might be the area of work after graduation. I kind of feel like if one does chemE and graduates they are gonna be set for the most part, regardless of what college they go to. Good luck.

I know of a 36 ACT/valedictorian who didn’t get into Wash U. I also know of 35 ACTs who did.

A 27 won’t make it.

I hate to say it, but a 27 doesn't sound like an engineer. Unless his math and science are very high. There are exceptions, but the Business school at most SEC schools is full of guys that started out in the Engineering school with a 26, 27, 28...

He didn't ask for a ranking. He was probably hoping at least some folks on an SEC message board had first hand knowledge of these schools. He was gathering information which is exactly what he should be doing.

Nothing wrong with Finance or accounting but if you really want to mentor this kid, pay for one of those aptitude/life skills tests--his High School undoubtedly will have access to them. A good one, for $30, is YOU SCIENCE. It will tell him what he's good at and why (EX: Building Sciences because he's a 3D visualizer, practical, etc).
