Do yall think this is an appropriate use of available dry land in Louisiana?

Is there zoning there? If not, people should be able to do what they want with the land.

Isn’t the problem with the current ones that nobody takes care of them?

I’d love to see the energy output to carbon footprint ratio between WBR and Dow/Exxon across the river. I know who I’d put my $$$ on.

Noticed some public hearing notification signs in that area, suppose that’s what they’re for?

A solar farm in the middle of cane fields looks just as shitty as a dead end road with travel ball mom houses stacked 3ft apart

Yes that’s what the signs are for. Parish has a ways to go in this but if the right palms are greased, I’m sure it will fly. I’m just hoping they move the ones immediately next to homes. If not, I hope they put up some impressive green buffers so we don’t have to look at that shite.

The electricity generated helps alleviate generation stress by other means, which are beyond outdated and inefficient, that’s why half of Louisiana loses power when there’s a frost.

Too many ppl in home playing PS5 = more power generation needed = outage.

It’s a good use of the land. Utilities would have to raise prices to customers to update their grids OR they can take advantage of nationally allocated dolla bills. Might as well take option 2.

Lol and that farm is going to add a lot more jobs than 4. It’ll take a dedicated crew 6 months to a year for project completion. That’s a lot of money flowing through the BR area, which Louisiana is honestly not in a position to be choosy about.

I think a nuclear plant is a much more efficient use of property for power generation.

Because the regs say the 100% of what can be produce in electrons gets bought, so always max cash flow. Natural gas, coal, and nuke don't get such sweet deals to make full profit margin 24/7/365

Investors are making bank is why. Regs guarantee it.

Same with biodiesel manufacturers getting something like $6 per gallon and most is being shipped via rail co California. Sale to California and RIN credits is what that is all about. Without bullcrap regs would never compete with regular ULSD.

There is a stipulation that they have to plant a green barrier unlike the ones on section road. Its 3 different land owners and all sugarcane. So there will not be much labor lost or possibly none if the farmers can get the maintenance contract.

I have mixed emotions about them, but I sure hate the government telling someone what to do with their property if it is not a safety or environmental concern.

You can’t fight city hall. Once all the ground is scorched, it will never be good again for farming.
If you trust the government, just talk to the Indians.

People can do what they want with their own land but turning net carbon reducing row crop in to solar fields is a loose loose anyway you look at it.

Stick that shite on warehouse roofs.

Not to mention it trashes the soil and good luck getting it cleaned up without pre escrowed funds. If then even.

The private property owners can put up whatever they want. It's funny how some conservatives from Louisiana are all of the sudden anti private property rights if someone puts up something they don't like because of "queer arse green energy crap."
