Saw this on the WBR news website and found the maps. Looks like about 1,600 acres in total.

Do yall think this is an appropriate use of available dry land in Louisiana? Some of this is directly behind homes and an elementary school.

Da Fuq? Who owns the land, the Parish or private landowners? If private landowners, I think they can do whatever the F they want to.

Next question is who owns the land?

Are dry landowners supposed to donate their land to people that chose to build a house in the swamp?

So you'd be okay if they opened a solar farm next door to your house? How about a refinery or sewer treatment plant?

If it's not near anyone's house and isn't some kind of environmental disaster, it doesn't matter IMO.

But solar sure seems like a giant waste of space for the power output provided. I'd rather see supplemental power provided by panels on homes and businesses than a giant farm.

It’s a shitty use of the land as far as being a revenue generator for the parish. It creates a whopping 1 ( but they said as many as 6) permanent jobs. It’s gonna tie up all that land for 20+ years, and there is no accountability if (and when) the solar farms fail or are no longer viable. So there’s that.

But the land owner is making a killing and it’s his property so...

Ah, it’s right next to numerous houses. Including mine. I’ve got mixed emotions. I respect the right to do what you want with your land, but I’m not crazy about having it right next to me.

They are ugly AF. I'd much rather look at a bunch of other houses than that.

Those homeowners would disagree with you. Solar farms tank property values.

They are building an even bigger one out in East Feliciana.

I think I'd be more accepting of this kind of thing if they planted some trees around the perimeter or something.

This is how you know it’s not really about the environment. There’s no money to made unless you build a giant solar farm. So they’ll destroy the land to build a solar farm while the left cheers and high fives each other for saving the environment instead of incentivizing everyone to install their own personal panels.
