Took long enough to get a decent pun in this thread.

Musical artists have been writing protest songs and calling out the man in charge for decades.

Most play into their fan base though, or at least don't directly insult their established fan base.

Exactly. These girls were a classic case of not knowing your audience. And in a spectacularly dumb way.

I think the whole Bush family is rotten to the core and Dubya was a terrible President, but going overseas and begging Europeans to like you by trashing your own country is some fricked up, repugnant shite. Talk about pathetic.

And yet you probaly think obama, bernie sanders and/or joe biden, are the bees knees

Sounds like Colin and the rest that took a knee. And Colin thinks he's a victim.

I think it was actually just Maines that went rogue. The 2 sisters were put in a bad position. They had to support her because she was their face and voice, but I don’t think they knew she would do that. I may be wrong.

When did Colin insult his base?

In fact, he just got paid handsomely by Nike who gained business after the deal.

The downvotes you’re receiving are faux outrage.

No, they were victims of their own arrogance.

I've been a musician/artist my entire life and for many years, was lucky enough to get paid to entertain, visit interesting places and meet lots of interesting people, some famous most not.

I can say that for the most part, musicians/entertainers are the most egotistical, out of touch people you will ever meet and Maines and the Chicks fell victim to the assumptions their farts don't stink.

No one with a clue wants to be lectured to by musicians, many of whom barely made it thru High School.

They were arrogant, preachy, misinformed THEN as with all SJW's, simply doubled-down when called on their bullzhit.

They were not victims, they were self-abusing.

Things have changed a lot since 2003. A country singer probably could bash Trump overseas and not torpedo his career.

Funny but true: I had the opportunity to see and meet the Dixie Chicks BEFORE Maines became the singer.

Laura Lynch was one of the sweetest, most humble people you ever could hope to meet.

The personnel change was like replacing Mary Anne from Gilligans Island with Veruca Salt.

Actually, they were arrogant morons insulated from common sense by the people around them. In short, they were infected by elitism. It was beyond stupid from a professional standpoint.

Uh no. When someone attacks conservatives it's fine to be outraged.

No one attacks liberals so everything they do/say is faux.

The key is to talk shite in the lyrics but also have a patriotic chorus politicians can latch onto for events, i.e. Born in the USA
