Wendy’s plans on introducing surge pricing for menu items starting next year

This will certainly end well for them.

Wendy’s is preparing to test an “Uber-style” surge-pricing model where the cost of menu items will fluctuate throughout the day based on demand — meaning a Dave’s burger will cost more during the lunch or dinner rush.
The fast-food chain’s unappetizing plans, set to be tested in a high-stakes rollout next year, will squeeze more money out of already inflation-battered Americans who may not have the option to eat their meals during “off-peak” hours.

Industry experts warned that Wendy’s should expect backlash when it tries to hit up hungry diners with ever-shifting prices.
“There are people who view dynamic pricing as a rip-off,” restaurant analyst Mark Kalinowski told The Post.
Added restaurant consultant Arlene Spiegel, “It won’t fly and guests will be very upset. You can’t surprise a guest with, ‘Your meal will cost another 50 cents or $1 today.’”

Franchise owners contend that dynamic pricing is more about helping with scheduling and easing the burden on kitchen staff during peak hours – as opposed to maximizing profits.

I like the food but will purposely not go for this alone.
I bet they won’t do dynamic pay and pay workers more during lunch and dinner

The Wendy’s near me is always empty. I don’t see how they stay open. Don’t see how this model will work for them as a surge for them would be three cars in an hour.

Can I get a baconator burger with baconator fries and a large baconator drink?
Also, will prices surge below normal price during the slow periods?

I will never forgive them for what they've done to the once-great spicy chicken sammich. So......go on Wendy's, do whatever you want. It has no impact on me whatsoever.

So they are trying to limit customer numbers during peak hours of the day.
Seems counterproductive to me. No chance this backfires.

The one closest to me is empty. Word got around town that they had a tranny working the drive thru so they lost a lot of business.
No joke.

If taco bell did this at 2 AM they'd double their margins because every drunk arse would still buy it.
So in that sense this is an interesting move.

This would make sense in a low competition industry. But with this, people aren’t going to choose to eat lunch or breakfast at different times. They’re just going to go somewhere else. They will lose business during peak hours and they won’t see increases during the off peak hours to make up for it. This is fricking dumb.
