Also, will prices surge below normal price during the slow periods?
Zero chance….

I was thinking, this will probably lead to some good Worldstar brawl videos when they have a customer go to pay and find out the Baconator is $3.50 more right now. Then somebody’s gettin they’re weave yanked out.

What did they do?

This is horrible marketing. Just raise your prices and discount when its slow if you want to do dynamic pricing.
Posted on 2/27/24 at 6:49 pm to Kinderman
So prices will be lowered during non peak hours ?
Posted on 2/27/24 at 7:19 pm to Kinderman
Here’s their stupidity. They’re doing it backwards. Presumably they want to encourage people to eat there more often during “off peak” hours. Correct??
Fine. Then institute “sag” rather than “surge” pricing ie. REDUCE menu item prices during those slower (between meal) times. Keep current prices the same during rush hour and presumably sell more during slow periods. The optics are MUCH better this way.

The more I read and hear about it, the more I think Wendy’s expected the outrage.
Now they can say they have “heard” their customers and will continue with their “normal” pricing, all while permanently increasing the the price of all items $0.50-$1.00.

Whataburger was great until it became corporate. Service is still decent but the food has been downgraded.
And how pissed is a Yogi going to be when they ordered during the surge but the food doesn't come out until after?

What if I'm in line to order at 11:55 and by the time I get up to the register it's 12:01 do I have to pay the higher price?

Can’t wait to get Jim Cornette’s thoughts on this

It will never work because it won’t be profitable.
These places make their money by staffing up for the lunch rush then sending people home and running a skeleton crew until the supper rush.
They won’t keep more people working for the longer afternoon plus a beefed up lunch.

I honestly can’t say that I would choose to eat anywhere else if they were to raise their price $1.

can I get some surge service?

Surge pricing is to encourage supply to meet demand and/or discourage frivolous use. How does this achieve the former and why on earth would they encourage the latter?

Nope. And you would still get cold arse fries. You just get to pay $1 more for them.

What bullshite.
Demands-scheduling demands change around times(higher price)-demand evolves around higher price-scheduling changes around new demand, etc.
if that’s true, they’ll always be chasing the demand with higher prices.
