Wearing a mask in some settings going forward

I’m in the waiting lobby while my car is getting serviced without about 15 other people. 2 people here have consistent coughs and one has been sneezing. I wasn’t planning on wearing a mask, but had one in my backpack so I put it on. If I can lower my chances of catching an illness from coughing randos by slipping on a mask in a setting like this, why wouldn’t I? Being sick sucks.

You want to have a weak arse immune system, knock yourself out.

Good news is everyone has their choice, so do what you want to do

I’m sure I’ll still be catching a sufficient amount of illnesses, especially with a kid. But if I know I’m going to be sharing a room with coughing strangers for an hour or two, why not take an easy measure to reduce the chance I’ll catch what they have?

I know it will never happen but I would like for the people who know they are sick to wear a mask voluntarily for the public good.

Did everyone stand up and clap?

Or just don't sit in the lobby with a bunch of sick people. Really racking the brain here

Yet you never thought of this before the government mandated chin diapers for a while?

Unless you are wearing a medical grade mask, it’s not gonna do much. Especially some cloth nonsense

That’s correct. I have no recollection of encountering anyone wearing a mask outside a medical care setting prior to the pandemic, so it never even crossed my mind as something to consider. It just wasn’t part of our culture.

Airports are the only place where I’d consider it because I don’t want to catch a cold on vacation

Yeah just be prepared to be called a pussy, a cuck, a liberal etc all of the above by the OT. I care too much ab what people think to try to protect my health but do what ya gotta do.

Before March 2020, it was accepted that cloth masks do not reduce the spread of respiratory viruses. Multiple studies detailed their ineffectiveness. The mask was a way for worried folks to feel some sort of protection. A method for government to answer the demands of the "do something" crowd.
