Louisiana has it so good and you don't even realize it.
Imagine a world of Personal Property tax where you pay $800-$1500+ a year on a car you own. You people would have a heart episode.
I lived that in Virginia.
That's cute. What do y'all pay for car insurance?

In LA? About $250 for two vehicles with max coverage.
In VA, it was about $190 in 2017 for same coverage.

Don't drive a hoopty.
I have a Tesla and a late model GMC Yukon. The hoopties don't seem to have issues getting inspection stickers.

People who were driving unsafe vehicles are going to drive unsafe vehicles no matter what, ignoring the inspection along the way.

I got a crack in windshield, not bad at all. But big enough so that they won’t give me one. Whatever the ticket would be, I’m sure is much less than a whole new windshield. Mine expired in November.

Yet, if you get a random CEL light and you can't get one.
I got a guy. No worries.
I saw a truck with LA plates yesterday in Wyoming and I saw his sticker and laughed.

I had a prospective tenant come look at one of my units. He was a cop and was driving his cruiser. I pointed out to him that his inspection sticker was 6 months expired. He laughed sarcastically thinking I would join along, I didn’t, he got the idea real quick. POS thinks he’s above the law that he enforces. The entire process is a complete scam.

I haven’t gotten one since 2013. Pointless IMO.

Don't move to Japan and want to have a car. Their version of inspection stickers are every 2 years and depending on the size of the car can cost anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand.
Luckily my little motorcycle doesn't have to go through it

I understand wanting safe cars on the road but it’s not about safety. Every 4 years would be ok. Having to do it every year is overkill and a money grab.

Government money grab, will never end. Government is just like big business, once they get their hands on your money, they never give it back.

We should abolish inspection stickers

Mississippi abolished our inspection program a few years back.
I’ve been saying it for years. Mississippi is well ahead of Louisiana in regards to political structure. They really have their stuff together and don’t mess around. A true conservatives paradise.
Oklahoma used to have inspection stickers many years ago and abolished them too. Unless you’re going to include it in the vehicle registration like Texas does, it makes no sense.

I haven’t purchased an inspection sticker in 7 years (last three vehicles).

It’s called a brake tag!

Don't have any inspections here. No tags, except registration.
Its not a public safety concern, its a revenue generator.

I’m 52 and remember a long time ago at least they made you turn on your headlights, check the brake lights and wipers and the horn. Lol.
Not very long ago BR cracked down on shitty inspection places so most of the remaining ones actually inspect the cars. The place I bring it to checks all mirrors, headlights, brake lights, horn, rolls forward, rolls backward, and does an emissions test. Last year or year before I brought my car to one place that went as far as to drive it around the block.
I'd be on board for elimination of the inspections.
