There was a stretch of about 5 years in the 2000’s where Spanish Moon got a lot of big indie acts.

Varsity got some damn good shows in town in the early to mid ‘10s. I’ve been gone since 2017 so I don’t know what’s happened since.

If they ever renovate the River Center, it can be an attracting spot to lure some well known artists. Shinedown and Three Days Grace are playing there in April but that’s the only “big” event there as far as concerts go.

I personally think a band like Metallica can attract the same amount of people in Tiger Stadium as Garth did last year.

"Busted ..on Bourbon Street" the Grateful Dead's famous line from the song Trucking came about as the Dead got busted in New Orleans the night the Warehouse had it's first concert.

The Grateful Dead and Fleetwood Mac opened the Warehouse on January 30th, 1970 and the Dead were busted after the first show.

Everyone played the Ware house. ZZ top had an early gig there as something of a house band.

If you ever go to Parentins in old Jefferson. There news articles and other info about the warehouse inside.

My first concert ever was ZZ Top there in 74. The link below is most, if not all, the concerts held there

Awesome spot for great music and as you say, could be hot as hell. Breathing the smoke drifting by was a plus. Fond memories of my early 1970's college carefree days. One of Duane's last shows before he died.

I came across Smiley Anders column about the KISS concert in the Centroplex in 77. He was all in a tiff about the makeup and loud sex devil music

Damn right it was. The 70-80's BR was a top tour stop. Allll the best shows stopped here. The LSU Assembly Center (PMAC) was the place until the River Center was built in the late 70's. The Warehouse in N.O. is legendary. Independence Hall in BR was also another historic venue.

In BR, Ossie Brown banned Ozzie from playing for biting the head off a bat. Then the Advocate decide to bring reporters to the AC/DC show and blast photos of fricked up teen rockers in the news paper. BR got black balled after that. frickin Ossie cost me a chance to see Randy Rhoads play

I saw Peter Frampton there in 1981 or 1982.

Saw The Cars and some other acts at the Centroplex. The Cars played for about 30 minutes and hauled arse. I also saw Eddie Murphy at the PMAC.

The Warehouse was one of the greatest music venues ever in NOLA. Artists like Frampton, Boston, ELO, Journey, Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac, Skynyrd, J. Geils Band, Styx, KISS and other big names all played at The Watehoise. New Orleans lost an icon when it closed in the early 80s.

My first concert ever. I was 11 years old. Loved KISS when I was a kid. Saw Alice Cooper shortly after that. This was the beginning of my love for live music.

He was a typical late 70's/80's Baton Rouge Jesus freak who felt it was his job to police local morality. He also led a push to keep Monty Python and the Holy Grail from playing in town.

All of the top performers used to come here. My first major concert was The Rolling Stones in the dome in 1978.

I saw many in Baton Rouge in the 80s. Diana Ross in her prime.
Earth Wind and Fire in their prime.
Queen in 1980
In 1981 I was on the first row by the stage for the last tour of the Jackson Five before Michael went solo. What a performance that was.

Great memories from a time when music was music.

Please name any big acts playing today….

Large concerts of the past are no longer…

Anyone one old enough to remember the Day of Rock and Roll shows in the Dome.

Hell, The Rolling Stones still hold one of the largest attendance records for their Tattoo You tour in 81… Over 80k in attendance at the Dome.
