I'm not offended that they want to make up some crap recipe. Just don't call it Gumbo when it isn't. That's like me advertising a field mouse as Mickey. They would be on me with their team of lawyers in five seconds flat.

Shrimp were probably "Frozen" to go with the theme too

Anyone putting that crap in their "gumbo" next month at our Gumbo cook-off here in Disney's backyard will be removed from the venue, forfeit their cooking equipment and get called out unmercifully.

When I was in HS, I dated this girl from California. Her dad made his version of gumbo that was just a bunch of vegetables with water and some of that garbage crab meat. He made a huge pot, and I had to end up telling him it was disgusting in front of his wife and daughter.
no you didnt

The only Gumbo worth having.

I assume it's because my sister is fricking stupid, but that's just a guess.
She call illegal aliens, undocumented immigrants? That would confirm it.

They eventually add the shrimp BEFORE the kale and cook the shite out of it
I was wondering the same thing. Put in shrimp, THEN bring to a boil, THEN add kale???
If it weren't for that execution, I'd actually be willing to try it. I wouldn't be willing to call it gumbo, but I would try it. But those shrimp would be terribly over cooked using that method.

I only very recently discovered that quinoa is actually the same thing as keen-wah and is not quin-no-ah. Still don't actually understand/know where the hell it comes from or what it is.

Waiter in a St. Louis restaurant told me they had made a pot of gumbo that morning. I quizzed him about their gumbo making process. He wasn't real sure but went and got the cook. Cook sounded like he had a clue until he told me his secret ingredient was file. Pronounced file like the hand tool file.
I passed on his gumbo.

I was working in southeast Texas for a while and living in some shitty little town. Had a restaurant that advertised "best gumbo in town".
I went in and ordered a bowl.
They brought me out some weak arse soup. Looked like tomatoes and onions floating in a thin brown gravy with some overcooked shrimp.
I took one bite, got up, and left. I wouldn't feed a dog that gumbo

I hope to God this isn't what Disney was spending all that money in south Louisiana to do.

Disney posted a video to several of their Facebook pages yesterday, touting a recipe for the "best gumbo in the bayou" that featured a few non-traditional ingredients, like kale and quinoa.
