Not joking at all.. The whole mentality and attitude of a certain group changed completely. The difference is night and day.. The racial tension was never as bad as it is now and I'm not going to argue with anyone about it, but no one will convince me otherwise.. I watched it happen.

I’m sure a lot of this will change once the Gentrification of Ville Platte starts.

In all honesty vp needs more of a patrol presence.
There’s kids running the streets all night now.
Lots of break ins and armed robberies. Drugs were always a problem in the veep. But most of the the break ins and armed robberies are from the lack of police presence.
Square on the mayor for that one.

Nah. If she's that bad at managing things, they'll end up getting stolen, anyway.
Besides, the sheriff's office there probably has them already, if they have Swat.

I really feel sorry for people that still live there

not the same town as when we grew up.
I don't know when you grew up there, but it's been like this for as long as I can remember. Definitely like this in the early 2000's. Hell, "shooting at the National Guard" happened 15 years ago. A friend from elsewhere told me a story about passing through the ghetto in VP 10 years ago and being terrified. When I asked about the locale she described Main and LaSalle St lol.
For some reason there's still college educated natives that move back there. But no one worth anything lives in VP proper anymore. They live in Vidrine, Whiteville, Chicot, Foubourg, Belaire Cove, and Tate Cove. That demographic is also moving back less and less.
There is no turning it around. VP has been slowly dying for three decades now. Cameron closing would be the nail in the coffin, and Cabot would not be far behind.

Dining depot must have been after my time. I moved in 1988.

How about starting some programs-midnight basketball and such.
Seriously,I don’t understand why all these small towns try to have a police department.Seems to be better to have sheriff department have deputies assigned to the towns. The money the town would spend on police would go to the sheriff department.I admit I don’t know all the logistics of that but would seem like it would be more cost effective.

It was something before that I think.

No I misread. Thought you were talking about near express lane. Depot was across from c&g’s in early 90’s.

If Cameron closes up shop, VP Ironworks is done as well. That would be a HUGE blow.

It was closer to thrift way. And yes Lafleur’s was the other one on Tate Cove Road.

Hence the problem.
The city doesn't want to give up that money.

Yet when I question why some people choose to live in such demographically challenged areas, I get downvoted to hell.
