I don’t think many of you realize just what a bad shite hole Ville Platte has become.
I 100% realize how bad it is there, as I grew up there, and still have family and friends there. I just typed and deleted a lengthy comment as to why it will continue to get worse, however after proof reading it to myself, I decided to delete it because the explanation for the problem would no doubt get me banned.

I know what you mean. Crazy that the city will have to enact borderline Martial Law to try to get the problem under control. Then LSP and the National Guard will have to deal with all the frivolous lawsuits from the fallout of rounding all the criminals up.

TD all of that makes me sad. I grew up in VP and it wasn't like this at that time. I moved to BR after my first year at LSUE and now go back for nephew birthday parties, holidays and to visit my parents at other times.
I recently went to my brothers a different way and was shocked and super saddened by what I saw. He and his wife aren't going anywhere and they do well for themselves but it's not the same town as when we grew up.
I pray that someone can turn it around.

Mais, don’t forget dat der Smoke Meat Festival, Cher!
Now that was a big deal. My dad was in the VVA and he and my mom were original "founders" of that festival -- it was a lot of work and did a lot of good for the town. I'm not sure what happened but I know they're not involved much if at all.

“I am at the point of calling in the State police or the National Guard with their machine guns to help patrol our streets if necessary to restore law and order,”
And just imagine the outrage & media attention actually USING said guns would bring.

I was born there in the mid 80s, and lived inside the city limits from the time I was born until my freshman year of high school. I rode my bike up and down the streets and to friends houses until after dark sometimes. NEVER had anyone bother with me. Allowing a child to do that now would be absolutely asking for trouble. It really is a shame how bad these community "leaders" have allowed what was once a decent place to live turn into an absolute ghetto shite hole.

I was born in 1969 and my family moved there when I was about 4 months old. 70s was my childhood. We had a movie theater, a skating rink .. at one time a teen hang out place. It wasn't a fancy town but we had things to do and places to go.
There are plenty of good people who still live there who try to do good things but they may just be outnumbered.

There’s none of that anymore. Places have tried to open but the same riff raff happens every time. It always ends up being guns and drugs involved. Couple months back there was a shootout in the middle of town at the Y-Not Stop. Rumor was it was some wannabe gangs from Bunkie that was disrespeck-ed by VP gangs and gun shots ensued. The employees themselves told me that the police didn’t respond until the following morning (when it was daylight).
I’ve heard older folks talk about how great of a place Ville Platte used to be for families back in the day and it’s sad what it’s become. So many businesses have shut down; Tate’s, Dads & Lads, Stereo shop going into town, Main Street is essentially a ghost town. It’s pretty bad. Restaurants have opened and barely made it a month before shutting down.

Maybe they should just lean into it.
Make the town crest a Spoon and Needle kinda like the sickle and hammer of the CCCR.
Sell shirts:
-VIET PLATTE
-Straight Outta Ville Platte
-VILLE PLATTE - It's Addicting!
-Visit Ville Platte - Sleep Somewhere Else (Chicot Park)
Ville Platte, Come for the Culture, Leave for the Cultcha

If pizza king was still there none of this would be going on.

The National Guard?
I'm not familiar with Ville Platte but with just over 7,000 people living there, is crime really that out of control?

You underestimate the crime potential of a battalion of welfare zombies who know the po-po don't give a shite
