I think there are very few hammerhead attacks recorded and I don't believe they have ever killed anyone.

Yeah, they're one of the sharks that is least likely to attack humans, primarily due to their temperament, how they're made, and how they feed.

Fatal shark attacks often occur when sharks bite humans believing they are prey, but as hammerheads have electromagnetic sensors in their heads and a 360-degree field of view there is no such risk of confusion or mistaken identity.

Unlike great whites, bull sharks, and tiger sharks, hammerhead sharks don’t eat mammals. So, humans almost never look like something good to eat to hammerheads.

It's a hammerhead. They are harmless. The cruise sandbars and shallows hunting stingrays.

There has only been 16 hammerhead attacks on humans since the 1500s. All were nonfatal.

True. And I don’t know shark fins. Nonetheless, I both agree and stand by my statement

Obviously, that shark is repulsed by Ink and body fat.

Someone needs to lead him away from the northern gulf coast then. Those are mandatory for vacationing there.

If you don’t panic and just chill he won’t even notice you. He’s hunting a ray or small fish. He ain’t worried about you.
Those hammerheads love to hang out in the shallows

I was at a SC beach with kids one year and out about waste deep playing in the waves. Noticed the small bait fish around us started jumping out of the water and were really agitated. I got the kids and we got out of the water. About five minutes later 4 ft sharks were jumping out of the water feeding on the fish. A few hundred people stood there and watched this go on for about 30 mins.

Later that afternoon from the condo you could see schools of these fish moving up and down the beach. Learned that day that of the little fish start jumping get the frick out of the water.

Tigers and Bulls are what you want to avoid.

In particular, don’t swim in murky water by inlets or drop offs especially at dusk or later.

Never seen a shark while swimming in the ocean, but once at some beach in Florida I was chilling in the ocean, after getting knocked on my arse by a wave came out of the water, and saw a fin about 10 or so feet from me. Bout shite myself until I realized it was just a dolphin.

Every summer people on social media go nuts when there are shark sightings near beaches. I don’t get it.

When I see one at The Track, then it’ll be time to worry.

I don't know why people don't know that the GULF of Mexico is not an ocean, sea, creek, river, lake, estuary or swimming pool

It’s a marginal sea.

quote:

In geology, a marginal sea is the sea bordering continents, semi-isolated from open ocean by island arc or land ridge, and underlain by oceanic crust

quote:

Marginal seas include the Arabian Sea, the Baltic Sea, the Bering Sea, the Beaufort Sea, the Black Sea, the Gulf of California, the Gulf of Mexico, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea

We were on the balcony one morning last week in Panama City drinking coffee and watched a pretty decent sized shark swim about 50 yards from some folks. I was able to get a pic but I'm illiterate at posting them on here.
Total guess but comparing it to the people in the water I'd guess it to be around 5 ft.
Big enough it never left my mind when we were in the water the rest of the trip!
