We really should allow remote controlled grenades under the seat.

Me too. Used to live in the shithole of New Orleans. When I lived there, I didnt even conciously know I had those levels of anxiety. If you constantly have to worry about mitigating the possibility of being a crime victim, you have that anxiety.
I leave my car running with door open like that twice a day every day picking up and dropping off daughter at daycare. Keys are in my car at gas station, etc.
These types of brazen crimes don’t happen in normal places
It’s not like she left her car unlocked overnight on accident, she left her door open for 20 seconds

I’ve left the back hatch open all night once and nothing was stolen. Then again I live in a normal non crime ridden shite hole.
The Nola peeps jumping right to victim blaming for not having the head on a swivel

Man I actually enjoyed my time in NO, but that was 20 years ago. But even then out of my group of friends we had car thefts, home burglaries, etc. just came with cost of business. This violent stuff is another animal. That city needs help and no way with the current administration and demographics it happens. Just sad.

Car jacket is an idiot. That is the exact MO that “entrapment” car is set up. Think the tv show was called “bait car” or something like that.
Driver gets out leaves door open and waits for someone to come by and jump in then car shut of LDH and locks driver in when cops press disable option remotely….

Everyone still meeting at Lee Circle on the 1st?

Seriously is it not super concerning that people are driving around IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY actively looking for cars to steal. It is basically a big FU to the NOPD bc they have very little fear of any kind of repercussions.

Someone might want to give NOPD that idea though I’m sure that would some how it would be deemed inappropriate by Nola powers that be.

I did that once. I woke up to a text message on my phone. A neighbor had been out walking his dog after midnight, noticed it was open, and closed it for me. He shot me a text to let me know.

What exactly is the appeal of leaving your car keys in the ignition, anyway? I mean, anyone who steals a car is a piece of shite regardless, but I pat my pockets for phone/keys/wallet checks whenever I am going or leaving somewhere to make sure I'm not leaving them behind. It's just one more thing to keep track of and I'd be constantly double-checking myself if my keys weren't there. Seems like a high risk, low benefit behavior.

wouldn’t leave my car unlocked with a door open (with the keys inside?) in the whitest safest city in America. Come on man.
I've left my car running unattended in plenty of places without a care in the world.
In a truly safe place you have nothing to worry about
