The driver got her granddaughter safely into the house, and the open gate to the side yard was definitely a cause for anxiety. So good for her for thinking of her granddaughter and anticipating the worst.
Crime of opportunity...yes, it was. Had the driver's door been locked, the perp would have crept back to his getaway car. But we call it a crime of opportunity BECAUSE a criminal was looking for his next crime. And he found it.

I'm sure you made this comment in the Costco thread and I'm also sure you don't know it's policy to turn off your vehicle at Costco.

I guess these frickers just drive around looking for shite to steal? This is what happens when you do away with pro active policing.

I leave my truck running, keys in the ignition all the freaking time. Know why? Because I don’t like in a shite hole where someone will take it.

People need to know the difference between a "carjacking" and a stolen car. That was a stolen car.

La. RS 14:64.2 — Carjacking
Carjacking A. Carjacking is the intentional taking of a motor vehicle, as defined in R.S. 32:1(40), belonging to another person, in the presence of that person, or in the presence of a passenger, or any other person in lawful possession of the motor vehicle, by the use of force or intimidation.

I seriously do not see the point in living in that city any longer. I have a difficult time in justifying the state and region even, but the city has become unthinkable to me, and I love the city, but what it’s become is not even a viable option anymore. It’s pushing the self destruct button as fast as it possibly can, and so why would I subject myself to something everyone else wants to destroy so badly, from the mayor on down?

That looks like those studious young men were actually driving around looking for a car to steal.

You leave your windows down with the music cranked too?
ETA: And what does this have to do with a lady who does live in a shite hole that just left her keys in the ignition, unattended, and with a door open?

I did it my entire life growing up in a small town in Iowa. I don't even think my mom has a key to her house that she could find.

Do these cats just drive around looking for targets of opportunity? What do they do with the cars after they steal them?

So trump supporters who work outside for a living. The mainstream media (liberal news) is spot on regarding what the real issues are in our country. It is always white trump supporters who are seen car jacking, stealing, killing… etc.

One door is left open. The other doors were probably unlocked.
Welp…
Imagine living in some fantasy world where you can leave your car doors unlocked when you get out.
Might as well live in the Lord of the Rings universe.

This leaves room for interpretation about as wide as the grand canyon.
eta and more than likely the courts will interpret unfavorably to the defendant

You think they owned that Jeep in the video? Lol.
They use them to ride around in to commit more crimes, then they either take it to the chop shop or abandon it in NOLA East
