I mean, I can easily leave my car unlocked or with keys in it in my driveway for extended periods of time without any real fear of something like this happening.
Sure, there is petty crime occasionally like stolen packages and bikes, but nothing violent, no car or house break ins, etc. in any real scale
But I live in a suburb in a city that is majority white so
I can’t imagine having to constantly keep head on a swivel, never make a mistake, or have small lapse in judgement in my own neighborhood, at Costco, driving down the interstate, stopping at a stop sign, etc.
Y’all’s victim blaming of a 70 year old woman with a 5 year old granddaughter is crazy. Her car was gone in 20 seconds, that’s not fricking normal

Me too.
Used to live in the shithole of New Orleans. When I lived there, I didnt even conciously know I had those levels of anxiety. If you constantly have to worry about mitigating the possibility of being a crime victim, you have that anxiety.
When you move to a non shithole place that doesnt have much crime, you can almost feel the tension leaving your body in those first few weeks. It's like a weight being lifted off. Didnt even know I was carrying it until I left that godawful place.

Chief is appointed by the mayor. And to be fair, he has shitty resources, waning manpower, a DA that wont prosecute violent criminals, a crippling federal consent decree that was welcomed by the previous mayor, a large group of BLM supporting white liberals who claim to hate the police until someone carjacks them, and an African American populace that is often unwilling to talk to the police or act as a witness.
The mayor just won a 2nd term election by a landslide. She doing the great work of the people, baw.
At least per the voting public in New Orleans. Couldnt be bothered to support a viable opponent or to go out and vote against her. Truth is...this is all their fault. Or is that victim blaming?
