Grew up on a lake in Polk County. We'd go gar giggin' at night and you'd see the orange eyes all over the place. They'd swim around our beach area occasionally. Killed some of our ducks and swans. When he started tracking my dog, had to do what a man had to do back then. First two shots literally bounced off his head. Third one between the eyes sent him floppin'. Floated up a day later.
Lake Hancock near Bartow is the worst for gators. Crawling with 'em. Fly over it and you can see 'em swimming around.

Did you notice how the article just said a lake in Polk county, without giving any hint as to where? Polk county is aboot 4.25 times the size of EBR parish.
Other articles say it was Lake Marianna, in Auburndale. Also, the gator was trapped.

Anyone ever wonder what the first person to cross the Bering land bridge, wander across the continent and get to a swamp in the SE and see a 14 ft aquatic lizard lunge out of the water and nab something thought?
