She better be thankful, any southern brother knows a gator only likes one thing better than a dog.
When we were kids we'd let the dogs get down by the water and wait for the alligators to go under. Run over where the dog was and wait with a gun. Gator comes up. Bang. Sorry Mr green jeans, he was trying to eat my dog.

1. I feel sorry for the lady and her dog, but the gator was just being an alligator and doing what gators do.
2. That would be that gator's last meal if it did that to my dog. I would miss my dog terribly, but I would have a great new pair of boots.

That's the Mississippi river ~ 3-5 miles south of tiger stadium.
The concrete squares are at least 6 feet wide and the gator was on an angle. So at least 8, prob closer to 10+ feet.
