We’ve had several over my lifetime and a few have had back problems.

There is nothing they can do other than pain pills, it’s probably just inflammation.

They’re going to recommend he be out in a kennel for 10-14 days with limited movement. Most likely, this will fix the short term problems and get him relief.

Every occupation has a specialist. Some just aren't very good.

Man some of y'all are heartless SOBs. My dogs are my family. I would pay any amount of money to make them better if they're sick. Now if it's not possible or unsuccessful, then it's time to put them down

Damn! Switch prick mode from 1 to 0.

I don't consider our dog as important as our daughter but show some sympathy.

Paid $10k for emergency surgery on a dog once.

Once.

*I love dogs, but you gotta draw the line somewhere. If another one decides to swallow a dish rag it's going to be "Sorry bud. Nice knowing you."

That line should’ve been drawn somewhere a lot closer to 0 than 10,000.

Would having her pay the entire bill out of her personal funds help her understand?

Ours is gonna be 13 soon and has had two removed. We’re anticipating more to come and wondering if there’sa cheaper way.

Damn near as expensive because the patients aren't insured.

FYI, you can buy pet insurance. Better to do it when they’re pups and before they get diagnosed with any chronic issues.

Where do you live? Not familiar with any vet neurologists in Louisiana.

Rimadyl worked for my dog. Just a pill. Past that I’d be hesitant putting a dog through much more.

This is what we did although it didn’t take more than a week to get back to normal. I just put down our dachshund last Oct after 15+ years. He had 2 back episodes. After the first one, I was in the same position as the OP with my wife. Luckily, we tried the pills and at home kenneling first. We have another one now that’s 4 mos but I still miss my old homie.

Dog getting MRI Monday (goodbye $5.5k)

If surgery is needed sounds like they just remove a disk (95% success)

Anyone have experience

They do that so that for your next dog you will feel guilty enough to buy insurance for it.

Yeah, or maybe because they pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for their education.

I had a Dachshund that lived to 18 years before I lost her.

She was the best.
