At minute 4:54. Get 'em Bernedette.

ETA: I listened to it thinking he'd try to clean up his image/perspective a bit, but this hard-head a-hole is coming off worse than I thought.

How much do these basic items cost per year? Maybe $50-$100? The problem is when teachers buy classroom supplies that go above and beyond what is necessary and then complain about having to purchase those supplies with their own money.

She is a Troublemaker who needs to see the inside of Angola. I can't believe she disrespected the School Board meeting like this and I'm glad they arrested her so the other scared teachers who don't want to speak out continue to be scared.

im sure this happens a lot. I am only speaking on what we buy and i promise its not ball point pens with fancy grips. Ive spent many of nights sharpening #2 pencils along with weekends in classrooms fixing/cleaning school supplied items because the janitors/maintenance arent there.

I agree, the essential supplies should absolutely be covered.

I am not sure how you can be so confident and be 100% wrong.

The state started the Minimum Foundation Program (MFP) where they essentially gives a block grant to each school district. Those go into the district's general fund as an unrestricted revenue source and can be allocated however the district sees fit. The MFP program goes to supplant local dollars to make sure the schools have enough money to operate and makes up most of the revenue for the districts.

The fact that VPSB is giving a raise to the Superintendent when their district ran a $3,000,000 deficit last year is what is crazy to me.

For anyone who is curious at what their local district budget is you can find it here: LINK

eta: the $3M deficit was actually for FY 2015-2016. They are budgeted another $4.1M deficit for FY 2016-2017 but the actual hasn't been published yet.

Well then give him another raise...lmao!

Pretty sad. District posts a deficit, but the boss gets a raise. Makes perfect frickin sense.

The President of the Louisiana Association of Educators, Debbie Meaux, blames the incident on the teacher as she backs Anthony Fontana as being the incident party in this situation.

KPEL 96.5 Interview with LAE President

Meaux blames the african american police officer for arresting her as they try to set him up as the patsy for all this.

She needs to be fired as well.

beyond that, i'm not sure how well versed you are on teaching children, but children (especially prior to high school) don't respond to just taking notes on something taught verbally. it takes many other materials to teach effectively. just having pen/paper in a classroom is only going to make the "teaching for the test" or learning by memorization problem worse. several other professions are given a sufficient stipend to purchase what they need to perform their job at their discretion. teachers are rarely given this vital benefit.

Wow, had to look back at KATC because I could have sworn she was backing the teacher yesterday. After looking though, that was Suzanne Meaux, president of the Vermilion Assoc. of Educators.
