a combo. ideally i like to schedule each day one "set in stone" thing to do. after that its should be more relaxed and just kinda go with the flow. that way if you are running late or behind schedule on that one thing, it doesnt wreck everything else.

people who plan everything to the minute are asking for trouble and anxiety.

One planned outing/destination per day, otherwise we just wing it. Strike a nice balance of sightseeing or activity with lazy time

I’m busy enough to at work. Vacation is to relax and recharge.

I like a rough itinerary of things I wouldn’t mind doing while I’m on a vacation, but other than maybe dinner reservations somewhere, nothing is set in stone.

Same. I didn't come all this way to watch TV. That's a hard no for me. We don't have to go crazy doing things, but at the very least I want to relax at a bar patio or lounge in the park or something.

With all the recent posts regarding vacation, the thought hit me.

Do you prefer a vacation that requires you to "go go go" or a more "beach" type vacation where you just relax?

Go go go. I want to exclusively eat stuff I can't get at home, drink beer I can't get at home, and see topography and culture I can't get at home. I attack vacation time like a pie eating contest.

Lazy. Frio River cabin, a cold river soak and fishing lazy. Hard to beat.

Funny for us the beach is go go go. Diving, snorkeling, sea kayaking, surfing, parasailing, etc. On beach vacations, we usually take a day off each week but at some point, my wife usually says let's go lie face down in the water, so we go snorkeling. The closest thing we ever do to a slow vacation is going to the camp or visiting friends out of town but neither has a huge amount of downtime.

I can relax at home and sleep when I am dead.

otherwise we just wing it

We wing most of the day besides the 1-2 things we might have planned to do on the trip, but I do not wing food for the most part. Reservations are set weeks in advance, if not more, for anywhere we want to eat that takes them. I'm a bit of a crazy person about having a reservation even here at home, so even more so on vacation.

It's just too easy to either get stuck at Chili's or get stuck standing in a 1hr line without them. That's often our only structure for each day is the lunch restaurant and dinner restaurant.

I'm good for one activity a day on vacation, plus dinner out. There's no point in running yourself ragged on vacation, you're supposed to be relaxing.

Busy, I don't want to go somewhere and do nothing. I don't like to go go go.. Just sort of go at my own pace, but I like to have shite to do.

We are doing a company vacation this summer to a very popular vacation destination. There are many activities one can do. After seeing how excited everyone was for all the activities it made me realize I am way more of a do nothing type of person. There's only one activity on the list I want to do, I have no desire to do anything else on this vacation than sit on the beach and read. I'll day hike a day or two as well, but most of it will be by the water.

lmao this is exactly why I was so damn confused by that mention of the layoff.

We're going on a company wide destination vacation.

I think I'm safe considering I got my tickets emailed to me today.

I like both. I'd rather get up, enjoy a cup of coffee, and some breakfast. Then go do something active...hike, bike, fish, or some other experience. Then come back and just chill for the rest of the day/night.

I think of this:
quote:

requires you to "go go go"

as a trip, and this:

quote:

where you just relax

as a vacation. I enjoy both, but I like to know which one I'm signing up for.
