Vacation - busy or lazy

With all the recent posts regarding vacation, the thought hit me.
Do you prefer a vacation that requires you to "go go go" or a more "beach" type vacation where you just relax?

I like a mix. Some planned sight-seeing, but plenty of lazy days mixed in.

I don’t go on vacations that will cause me to be more tired when I get home than when I left.

I’m not a huge beach person, though it’s nice for romantic type deals.
Also not huge on “attractions” beyond one or two on the trip.
I like the go places I can explore like I live there. Visit breweries, eat at the best restaurants they have, etc.
So I guess I prefer to go go go, but my go isn’t filled with a ton of museums and whatnot. We usually pick just one day for something like that.

I like the option to do, or do nothing.

Same.
A day of walking around followed by a day of driving to see things...I hate just staying in a hotel room lazing around but if we are in a nice AirBnB, that could be a different story.

I’m either or.
If I know I’m on a sight seeing vacation or road trip, then sometimes there will be a schedule. If that schedule needs to be adjusted, then so be it, it’s a vacation. However, I’m not paying a fortune for my family to sleep til 9 and we don’t get going until 10 or 11. That pisses me off. Sleep til 9 at the house, not when there’s things to see and do.
Beach condo, lake cabin, Colorado house, etc., then it’s relax and let the day develop. I have no problem doing that either.

Beach - Lazy with 1 or 2 days of excursions to break up monotony
Anywhere else: On the go to see everything

Go.
If I'm spending money I want to go do and see things I can't at home.
I can relax at my home for free.

Mostly relaxing. I work hard enough at home.

I prefer a mix of beach trips and periodic big trips. 30A or the like is a 4-5 day thing for us at this point. Not much planning involved, go to the same places and with the same people. Mix in Caribbean periodically.
But for longer, planned vacations I want to travel abroad, 2-3 cities/countries, museums, city walking, tours, etc. If we're carving out a chunk of money and time for a trip, it's going to be like that, we're not going to spend that time/money going to Cabo or Cayman or something.

I like to go. The reason Im traveling is to see and experience parts of the world and cultures that I don't get at home. I want to get out of my bubble and enjoy the beautiful planet that God gave us. When I'm old maybe I'll like to relax on the beach more. Right now even if I go to the beach I'm getting hammered every day and not "resting"

While it is fun to travel, explore, etc., it's almost not a vacation. Give me a beach any time.

Same here. Most of our trips are with the kids, and usually to the beach or a resort where the activities are usually swimming and fun things there, and an occasional dinner or something else at night. We took a short weekend trip to Atlanta a few years back, and it drives me crazy if everyone is wanting to sleep in when we're trying to go do a couple of things during the day. But at the beach, yeah, relax until 9-10, go out and swim a bit, come back in at the hottest part of the day, and go back out later in the afternoon.
A guy I work with a few years ago put it best. I told him we were going on vacation, and he asked if we were taking the kids or just my wife and I. Said we're taking the kids. He said you're going on a trip, you can't vacation and relax with them there.

We usually do a mix of those throughout the year. I lean toward busy trips, but we do usually do at least 1 beach trip per year.
ETA: by "busy" I mean usually just exploring the place that I'm in. Walking around the area, hanging out at bars/restaurants. Not really site-seeing types of activities.

I don’t think I know how to properly vacation. I want to completely disconnect.
