I’ve had a USPS package sitting in New Orleans since last Monday. Still haven’t gotten it

Is it a company problem or a local employee problem? A lot of folks in other parts of LA have a lot of gripes just based off this board.

I never have any problems. I can't remember the last time I've had a problem. Just another reason to love my demographics I suppose.

No, they didn't. Just because they say they did doesn't make it so.

Nobody from the post office has cracked the 50% barrier, it's like the 3 minute mile.

On-Time delivery is a little misleading. This % is based on guaranteed delivery time which customers have to pay extra. This doesn’t include standard delivery.

I used to work in this business. 93% on time is a horrible, horrible, number.

It’s almost like they were marking packages as delivered to pad their stats or something...

One package guy told us that they will scan the packages early if their scanner looks like it will die soon.

I'm sure if that's happening, that timeliness scans are being done early too. Much easier to scan a batch at once than scan then each as they get delivered.

If it came from Amazon took forever. Everyone else seemed to be able to ship on time during last Christmas season

Funny, because it was the exact opposite for me and pretty much everyone I know. I ordered two Christmas gifts from two different sellers in two different parts of the country. One I ordered in mid-November, and the other at the end of November. Both were shipped via USPS. Both were shipped with plenty of time, so it wasn't a waiting on the seller to ship type deal. One shipped on Nov. 20. Neither arrived before Christmas. Hell, it was a new year when I received both.

In comparison, I got everything I ordered from Amazon, usually early.

Good job, USPS.

Our company is required to ship usps for our jewelry. We just had a package delivered that was shipped December 3rd. Thank god because it had a 25k sapphire in it. We had already finalized a claim on it but the stone was sentimental for our customer.

We still have 3 packages outstanding from January, one includes an omega watch that was a last gift from a husband to his wife.

It's a company problem. I had packages straight up LOST (as in I never got them), in the 5 weeks before Christmas. I started bitching about it, and sure enough everybody I told that to had similar stories. I even made a thread on this site talking about it, and all kinds of posters started chiming in with similar stories. I had packages sitting in Akron, Ohio and other midwest cities. So it's not just a regional thing.

Oh, and about the "I love my demographics". Yeah, good luck with that concept when discussing the postal service and their hiring technique.

I think that’s an impressively minor disparity between two private companies and one of the oldest and greatest Federal institutions we have.

2—4% isn't a lot if you're talking about a small sample size. But when you're talking millions of packages, it's a metric frick ton of difference.

Not OP but here is a NY Post story from December:

The US Postal Service, FedEx and UPS saw their on-time delivery rates drop in the second week of December, compared with the previous two weeks, according to shipping-technology company ShipMatrix, which analyzed delivery schedules from more than 100,000 shipping locations nationwide.

USPS took the biggest hit for the week of Dec. 6. Mail carriers delivered about 88% of packages on time, compared with 93% for the weeks of Nov. 22 and Nov. 29. FedEx fell from 95% to 94% and UPS slipped only slightly — from 96.3% to 96.1%.

The numbers mean more than 3.5 million parcels are being delivered at least a day late, ShipMatrix said Friday.

I shipped a package using usps on feb 6 from Los Angeles. It got to lax on feb 8 and sat there until February 25. I’m not sure how that’s even possible.

My house was about a week before closing. Guy pulls up to my house in a U-Haul truck. I’m thinking that my buyers are already trying to move things in. I go out on the porch to see what’s going on, and it’s a FedEx guy delivering something that the buyers had had delivered there. FedEx is using any means possible.

Fed-Ex has surely messed up the last few weeks for me.

I’m not using them anymore- that’s pretty bad. I get the whole bad weather thing - but when usps can get it done but not fed ex - that’s bad

I think that's bullshite. And my evidence is that the usps was always late with my shite while FedEx was on time.
