This is total murders. It’s not per capita. When you do it per 100,000 people we aren’t near the top. Surprise surprise the 3rd most populous country has the 3rd highest total number of murders

It doesn’t even work for total murder though.

It doesn’t work no matter how you slice it.

So the obvious question is... How do we remove these 5 cities from the US?

The statistics show that those populations are doing their part for that, just not fast enough.

It’s not even 2000. Being factual wasn’t the intent of that Twitter post

Clearly, and it clearly won't matter to most who click on this thread.

There are no gun laws in Louisiana anymore. We became a Constitutional Carry state this past July.

Now what if you remove the top 5 violet cities from every nation?

Most violent crime happens in poor urban areas. This is not exactly news.

With 2022 data, I get that the US is 2nd in total murders (Mexico is first bigtime, with a fraction of our population, WTH would anyone ever go there??). Total murders are ~21k, Removing the five cities in the OP takes out 1889 murders, with HALF of them in Chicago (929). How the heck is Chicago not national news every dam day? Tell me again media is not biased....

If you look at the metros with the most murders, you get a slightly different list: Chicago, LA, Houston, Philly, Detroit, for a total of 3189 murders.

Subtracting either of those moves us down the list, but not that far, either by total or rate per 100k.

What's eye-opening is what murder stats have done in the Defund the Police/Summer of "Love" era. Every city that went hard left, led by Portland, saw double- or triple-digit increases in terms of percent change in murder rate 2018-2022. Portland's rate increased 293%, Minneapolis-St Paul went up 114% and 171% respectively, and NYC/Manhattan increased by 157%. Orleans Parish checks in with a 92% increase. Stats

That stat is insane…if true.

No way it is true.

When you see a post and it offers no link to the supporting data 99% of the time it is fake.

There was the Idaho water cut off to farmers that got connected to cobalt mining and money for Ukraine. It took me less time than the run time of the YT video the tweet was based on to prove it was physically impossible for the cobalt mine's water to impact the water in the farmer's aquifer.

When you see an uncited post that is perfect reinforcement of a position you hold that is when you really need to drill down, there is a good chance it was crafted out of whole cloth as disinformation for someone that holds your beliefs.
