Sucks that we have to consider this a distinct possibility when we go to do something as innocuous as watching a fricking movie in public.

You have a better chance of getting eaten by a shark or struck by lightning.

Enough that nobody would be surprised at all

That possibility has always been there unfortunately

If you can shoot a moving target, in a darkened movie theater, with all of the pandemonium occurring, I would be massively impressed.

You mean like the active shooter is doing?

Yeah, but the incidence rate significantly increased over the past few decades.

I’m sure that was super reassuring to the people in Aurora in 2012 who just wanted to see The Dark Knight.

He is shooting indiscriminately. Hopefully you wont hit an innocent person when trying to take him out. Pulling out your cc weapon getting into position and getting a good shot, all the while its dark , there is extremely loud gunfire, people being shot to death, running screaming in all directions....harder than you think.

Context shapes probability, too, though. Are you more likely to be shot or bitten by a shark if you’re in a movie theater in a landlocked state?

I feel this is incredibly irresponsible on their part, and only brings a huge amount of attention to a hypothetical. Why is this movie being singled out? Why not IT or the tons of other violent movies that have been released recently? Making it a problem when their is none is, well, part of the problem.

The Army routinely sends out safety messages as well as putting establishments "off limits" to soldiers. It's nothing out of the ordinary.

Irrelevant to the point that being involved in a mass shooting is statistically insignificant.

There are far more things you should be worrying about.

Based on the Ukraine rope a dope this week I would not be surprised if we get a mass shooting this weekend.

They desperately need to change the headlines and slow Trump's momentum.

Although standard operating procedure is to shoot up a black church, an Hispanic grocery, or a public school in a liberal city.

Movie theaters should be fine.

Statistically unlikely, but a non-zero probability. I didn’t say it was likely - just that it has to be considered as a possibility.
