You really think probable cause doesnt exist here for an arrest?

My post was solely addressing the question regarding why they haven’t taken a full statement from the officer. I don’t know why they didn’t arrest her on the spot. Maybe there are factors unknown to us at this time? I, like everyone else here, only know what is in the article.

I can see working a long day and walking down a faceless apartment building corridor and accidentally entering the wrong unit.

But not realizing your error to the point where you pull your side arm and shoot someone? Da frick? You’d think you’d realize at some point between opening the door (which clearly was open as your key wouldn’t work, and who the hell leaves their door unlocked?) and pulling your gun you might notice the furniture, pictures, decorations etc aren’t yours.

Me thinks there’s more to this story.

Shooting happened before 10. A buddy of mine used to start the night shift at 8 I believe.

why would anyone think she won't go to prison? she will be found guilty of manslaughter in the least.

She will suffer no consequences while the victims family has to deal with all of the grief.

Kind of screwed up that an average citizen would be sitting in jail right now pending a murder charge even if it were an accident.

FWIW. The office is white and the race thing is already bubbling up in the Dallas area. There are rumors of a mass protest tonight. The Mayor and Chief are going to react to that with an arrest if I was a betting man.

Has no one in this thread ever forgotten to lock their door? Or left it open because you were expecting company? Or maybe he was going in and out for some reason?

It's not super common but I don't know why some of yall are so shocked that his door was unlocked.

Btw, some guy on reddit claims it was the same unit a floor directly above hers and that she was not intoxicated

Yeah, let's assume she did genuinely think it was her apartment. She gets to the door, presumably inserts her key, only to find that the door is already unlocked (assuming one key doesn't open several apartment). Certainly my guard would be up if I realized my home was unlocked when I arrived.

But we are not talking about your average person here. This is a cop who routinely walks into unfamiliar dwellings with potential danger waiting on the other side. She likely does that every day. So how do you get to the point where you are shooting the person inside? And if so, did the tenant attempt to fight the cop? If she just got off of work, then she had to still be in uniform, right?

The only way I can see this being simply just a horrible accident is if (a) the cop genuinely went to the wrong apartment and then, once she noticed the door was unlocked, thought there was an intruder in the home (b) the entry way was completely dark. Otherwise, you likely know immediately you are in the wrong home and (c) the tenant, thinking someone was breaking into his house, understandably armed himself.

She walks in thinking she's encountered an armed intruder. He pulls a gun thinking it's a burglary. She beats him to the draw.

Possible, but unlikely

Someone covered that theory earlier. Would be a sad tragedy .

walking into an apartment with totally different furniture and decorations didn't tip her off that she may be in the wrong one? I don't understand how she then shot someone in said apartment. At what point did she realize she may be in the wrong unit?

That wall of text still ends up in manslaughter. If she is not in jail or out on bail with an anklet on, it's preferential treatment. She wasn't doing her job, she was a citizen, treat her like one. Blue doesn't matter.
