That’s probably a $60k rig there.
North wind, rough water, probably trying to do 70mph and went vertical in between chop.

I fished in a tournament a couple years ago with a friend and he had a 300 on a Skeeter.
I’ll never do that again. And I’ve fished and owned boats for 50 years. I have no desire to ever go that fast on water with 100 other boats around you doing the exact same thing. It is one of the most dangerous things I’ve ever been involved with in my life. And I’ve done some stupid shite over the years.

A few things. Thats a 80K rig and he wasn't trying to do 70. winds were in the 20 mph range and that is basically impossible to get over 25mph for the most part.
My guess is they speared a wave or two and the boat filled with water or the engine had a malfunction and they were out there floating in the chop and the boat took on water. They could have hit something at slow speed and got thrown as well.
FLW will probably make a statement soon but I am sure they are holding on to the possibility of finding him. The boater has certainly at this point told them what happened or he is keeping quiet until he gets representation.
Bad deal all the way around.
Bass fishermen in tournaments are mad men and do stupid things but if you have ever been in a bass boat in that kind of weather , you would know there is no high speed deal. Its really not possible.

I don't own a boat but have been fishing a bunch of times on other peoples boats. What is the deal with some owners/drivers turning into a "Captain Bligh". They become an a-hole. One time I was out with four guys and we almost had a mutiny. The driver was driving like an a-hole for no reason/showing off. The three of us agreed to take over the boat for our safety. Is it the sea air?

Did you tie the guy up or something?

I have been bass fishing on big lakes since I was around 13-14 years old. Owned my own boat for over 30 years. I have fished in hundreds of tournaments at every level there is. I am a full time guide right now and have been for almost 20 years where I have fished 225-250 days per year
People are stupid. No matter what you do and where you do it, people are dumb and do dumb things. Now I am not saying that anyone here did anything wrong. I hope that is not the case. But people do stupid things and that really is all there is to it
But there are limits to our equipment and most know what that is. I cant explain to you how bad a 20 mph wind is on Lake Okechobee. It is bad and if you have never done it before, a tournament is not the place to learn
Local events are the most dangerous. You basically get every person there it out there but accidents happen in professional events as well..

LOL...no but we "reasoned" with him in a serious way.. He realized that he was wrong but one of us took over the duty of driving anyway. He didn't argue. It was a 24ft Robalo (?) out near the mouth of the river.

Why did he turn the wheel like that?
The only time I flew out a boat was hitting a submerged tree at 30' in a flat.

Kisiah was clinging to his boat and in need of medical attention, according to a witness account. He was transported to a hospital in Belle Glade, Fla., where he was in serious condition Friday, according to local media reports. When reached by phone Friday afternoon, Kisiah told a BassFan reporter he had no comment and hung up.
So this guy was reported to be in serious condition at the hospital and this bassfan reporter decided to call him up and ask for a comment? What a dickhead
