That’s some impressive safety features for a car to have 4 occupants survive a 250 ft cliff fall

Bad thing about going over a cliff in a Tesla is you don't have the engine whine to drown out the screams and cussing.

I love the extremes with your two possible explanations.

He forgot to include:

“angry ex cut the brake line”

and “ghost messing with vehicle controls in an attempt to get vengeance on Elon Musk supporters”

They are supposed to have a really strong cage. I saw Elon make that point when he was upset in an Interview that the Plaid had to have a roll cage to drag race. (Sub ten second rule)

Damn Elon for not making a flying car.

A Chevy Bolt would have just floated across the ravine clearly.

Do teslas have issues with batteries igniting in accidents this severe?

No, the battery units are quite strong and they've done a lot to prevent the thermal runaway that most people think of when they read about EV's burning. To my knowledge, they're the only company thats commissioned fire safety testing that not only meets highway standards but also building codes since the units are identical to the powerwalls.

Aren’t Teslas very safe due to lack of engine?

I don't know if it made it to the OT, but a German guy had his Tesla on Autopilot as he caught a catnap. The police tried to pull the car over, but the Tesla wouldn't stop and led the police on a chase.

Tesla's autopilot ran from police as driver slept

it’s a pretty damn good look for Tesla.

That car can take a 250 ft fall and keep you alive.

This was my take. Damn, this should be their new marketing strategy.

It’s funny the difference in replies this post has versus the replies had it been made a couple years back. The tension between this board’s hatred of EV’s and the desire to simp for Elon is hilarious.

A car goes over a cliff and falls 250 feet. All survive. A professional athlete makes a routine tackle and clings to life in critical condition. You just never know.

If you ask the 2020 version of the tOT, they would tell you they are probably the least safe vehicle ever produced and it was a matter of when, not if, each tesla would blow up in an violent lithium battery explosion.
