I wouldn't say they're engineered to do that but rather it's an unintended benefit of the design. EV's are much better balanced and have a lower center of gravity than ICE vehicles.
Aw man I thought it would detect a fall and do some gyroscopic stuff.

Just saw that. Someone mentioned that as a possibility earlier in the thread.

He certainly wasn't out of the realm. He just forgot to list attempted murder.

What a turn of events. This deserves to be revisited. Think about this father, trapped, in tons of pain and also knowing he didn't finish the job and now he is going to have to deal with the consequences. I hope he rots. What a miracle the mother and children were able to survive this.

California. Will make every manufacturer tweak their product to suit their air standards for "safety" yet can't put railings on their own highways.

They'll know exactly what happened if Tesla opens up the telemetry and video. I'm not sure if they would do that though.

Teslas are even preventing murders these days. Very impressive. Quite a turn from when that one killed a lady in autopilot mode.

I think they knew this pretty quickly. Tesla is a Nanny car that records everything around you along with all your movements. I bet they have a camera on the driver somewhere as well. If you're going to do some sketchy stuff, don't do it to a Tesla or IN a Tesla.

All the tech is cool and useful when others are doing sketchy stuff to YOUR car. But when it's you doing it... you're gonna get caught.

There was similar case in California a few years ago where a couple of lesboes drove their car, with their 5 or 6 adopted kids, over a cliff. They all died, though.

There is. Tesla just pushed an update that allows you to use your phone to see the inside of your car from the interior camera when sentry mode is active. It’s pretty nice if you have kids or pets and want to leave them inside for a few minutes.

I don’t do hood rat ish in my car or anywhere else so I’ll tolerate the general creepiness of all of it

It's a ridiculous amount of telemetry and a significant amount of it gets uploaded at specified intervals. Then the really granular data is stored on the vehicle, which can also be remotely accessed.

There is absolutely a camera on the driver. It can tell if you're distracted, on the phone, taking a nap, etc. There's also other ways they can infer those things to confirm.

Correct, but the real issue here is what will Tesla even give you access to? Video, sure. Steering wheel input pressure data to see if the car was intentionally steered off the road? I'm honestly not sure. They're notoriously tight when it comes to data sharing.

I'm not sure the 2 adults are married. It will be interesting to see how they intend to prove intent.
