a chance a group of people would try to remove the baby and that would be very very bad and not help the situation at all
What's the worst that would happen? The kid may die?

This is about the govt's role versus the parent's role.
Exactly. Liberty versus oppression.

This is NOT about the state murdering a child.
This is exactly what this is about. Their state run health care is in danger of having people desire a second opinion. And they can't let that happen.
They've declined to provide more British health care. That's fine. The parents are fine with that.
Would you care to explain why the family is being prevented from seeking other options?

You have to deal with facts here and not hysterics
Facts are... they won't let the child leave to go to Italy.
AND...... the Italians will submit a case to the EU for state murder of an Italian citizen if they do not release him to Italy.
No hysteria. Just facts.

No they're using the article that allows them to intervene if they believe prolonging the care is bad for the welfare for the child.

I don't think if the father were sick for instance, they'd keep him from leaving the country to seeing treatment elsewhere.

I said this:
quote:

I haven't read one opinion from a medical professional claiming they can save the child's life

to which you responded:

quote:

So the Italian government, the parents, the Pope, and numerous journalists are just lying about what Italian doctors have told them they would try to do. Dude, just gtfo of here
you're implying that they are trying to save the kid's life when in fact they never said this.

It's fine. You misspoke or didn't know. I'm not trying to pick on you but the emotional pleas from the article and everyone else is trying to convince the public that the UK is murdering a kid and Italy is offering life saving treatment and that's just plainly false.

The point can be argued without distorting the facts

This is exactly what every frickhead that voted for Obama, and therefore ACA, voted for. When the government is a single payer, they, and they alone, determine who gets care, when and how. frick you communist liberals that support single payer.

The child is two years old. What similarity do you see between this child and a child who is into his "terrible twos"?

The child's problem has not been diagnosed. Why? because it's one of those genetic conditions that has no cure.

The child's eyes can't focus, and they haven't shown that the child has the ability to hear and respond.

The hospital says most of the child's brain is gone. Gone despite their feeding the child for sixteen months and forcing oxygen into the child's lungs.

Lots of folks seem to be thinking that there's a cure in Italy. Maybe a miracle? Does an entire brain regrow?
Or is anyone going to read what the Italian hospital offered. To cut a hole for a tracheotomy for a long term hook up to a respirator, and to continue feeding through tubes.

That isn't murder, it's keeping a near corpse alive.

Is that right? Or is the Pope involved because it deflects from some of his current embarassments?

If the British gov and its taxpayers are no longer on the tab for the bill, then why should Brit gov be in the way?

Right, but now that the kid is off life support, then it should be the parents discretion. I would fully understand the hospital's point if not for the fact that the kid hasn't needed life support for 45 hours and they literally have no idea what is wrong with him.

For seventeen months of the child's life, the hospital has kept the child alive. The child is only two years old. I find that picture of the child embraced by his mother to be tragic, because I also see an adult hand supporting the child's arm on his mother's arm, because I don't see that the child has any muscle tone at all.

We can ask where the soul resides. I don't know, nor do I know if there is anything that the Pope's hospital can do to give succor to the child's soul. Or has the soul left the child's body?

I do remember my Father's death from lung cancer and even after he was so thoroughly drugged that he didn't know where he was or who any of us were, when they would physically clear his throat, his gag reflexes kicked in and he was so terrified from the reflexes. I can't forget that terror and I was helpless to do anything. The doctors could have extended his life indefinitely with many machines. We had talked about it earlier and the decision was no.

Well this child’s parents have not said “no” and the British government is not being asked to pay or do anything except get out of the way.

The UK govermnet is still denying Alfi be moved to Italy 13. If Alfie dies, Italy will file a formal complaint with the EU of murder of an ITalian citizen by a foreign government.

Yeah, you are the real MVP for this.

God bless you DirtyMikeandtheBoys

How can they deny a family's wishes to seek treatment elsewhere. That's just so wrong. Has to be incredibly frustrating and just adds more stress to this family.. having to fight this.

As many have said, I would have to be shot, beaten, tazed...whatever...to keep me from my child if there was the faintest of hope for survival. That is a fact.

Which makes me think either the parents are total pussies, or they know that there’s no chance and they’re setting the stage for the impending lawsuit. I will assume #2, in which case, I would tell the parents to go frick themselves. If there was any legitimate hope, then nut-up and save your kid...TORPEDOES BE DAMNED!!!
