Well I know that, but you see a concerted effort from the left right now to try and restrict the second amendment.

Because you aren't anti government.

Most conservatives are anti certain government. Which isn't wrong, unless you act like you're strictly anti government.

Ok. Well let's let others chime in then

The fact we are ok with the govt playing moral champions sometimes, and not other times , just shows the own complex hypocritical nature we all have as humans

It's not hypocritical unless you are anti-government on everything. Almost no one is.

I am saying I do in fact find it hypocritical we are ok with the govt forcing medical care on a child

I am 100% admitting that is a hypocritical viewpoint I have based on personal feelings

Yeah, there is a difference between "conservative" and "anarchist". Even libertarians aren't anti-all government. They just strive for the minimally invasive government.

As part of such a world view, you try and craft boundaries where the state's power should not cross. Again, I think at least one line was drawn and unilaterally agreed upon in this thread in that the state should not have 30 armed guards preventing the parents of an ill child from searching for healthcare in other places that are willing to try and give that healthcare and transportation to get there.

There are certain things that need to be protected by our government and others that are government overreach.

2nd amendment for instance is a protected right.

Forcing a private business to acquiesce to some attention whore open carrying an AR just to get a reaction would be government overreach.

Certainly you can determine which one of these an "anti government" person would support.

It doesn't make him a hypocrite. It makes him someone who realizes government is a necessity but needs limitations.

I didn't mean I think if you beleive the govt should exist at all you are a hypocrite as a conservative

I meant I feel this could be an example of us being hypocrites and being in support of a law simply for personal feelings

Maybe it isn't, just was discussing

A more clear example is conservatives liking the smoking ban on restaurants......That is obviously a far more clear example

Well a political party believing in anti-all government is pretty detrimental to the party's survival.

There has to be a point where we as a society protect some of the most vulnerable of our members, the children. Denying a child medical attention they need is child abuse. If their parents are abusing them, no one has the ability and authority to protect them but the government.

This is one of those that falls into the necessary government column.

Not at all because that becomes a battle of my personal freedoms vs a smoker's personal freedoms. It also involves the freedoms of the waiters and bartenders. That's a separate discussion entirely. Although I admit, while I like the result of smoking bans, it should be up to the establishment.

You could take the Ron Swanson approach and try to bring it all crumbling to the ground from the inside
