The name is Phillips Exeter Academy. I realize people call it Exeter, but given this is a site for a Louisiana based university, I bet a lot of people may not know what just “Exeter” is referring to.
So if the state of Alabama is Phillips, who is Auburn and who is Alabama? Andover or Exeter?

I think we’re looking at an era where social profile is the only thing that matters. Your race, your class, passing the woke test - that’s it.
University will probably still be important, as a gatekeeper for jobs and politics, but it’s going to be a joke academically.
Yep. Colleges are already almost void of real academic presentation, and are just talking heads of liberalism.

People need to understand that Blacks don't do well on these tests not because they're not smart but because they simply don't give a frick about it.

And white kids who scored below expectations always took the test while “hung over”.

If you struggle on the ACT then college just ain’t for you homie

My wife's very good college had stringent GPA inflation controls which put their students at a disadvantage for grad school and employment after graduation.
It did not. There is no disadvantage here. Those student who worked and got the grades are rewarded. Those who did not, received a lesser reward. Students made a choice of a school.

Plus, there is so much variance in schools anyway. Standardized testing is the only real equalizer available.
Progressives don’t want equal tests. They want equal results.

wonder what the stats show on how predictive ACT and SAT scores are for success in college?
Pretty fricking good

The irony is that the ACT/SAT were introduced as measures of meritocracy. The goal of the ACT/SAT was to help show that the kid from a rural school in Louisiana was just as smart as a kid from a fancy New England boarding school.
Standardized tests were supposed to even the playing field, but as they became more important people started prepping for them and hence you have the standardized test industry and rise of college prep (test preparation curriculum) in secondary schools.
Standardized tests were supposed to help the future Arthur Millers and not help the future George W. Bushes.

Or its a realization they don't have the money to pay for test tutors. Poor people, whether black, white, red or purple are at a disadvantage these days when it comes to the SAT/Act.
There are so many free resources online. Course books, YouTube videos, practice tests. It’s all free.

Such a white privileged answer. Do you know how many of these kids don't have internet access?
Posted on 5/14/21 at 9:07 pm to Zappas Stache
None. Absolutely zero
Literally every citizen in this country has access to internet.

Public library?
Posted on 5/14/21 at 9:12 pm to Deactived
You don’t even need a public library. Every school now has WiFi. Every kid has a phone. Most schools have computers.

Frick off. Quit making excuses. Peoples parents are crap and the kids get screwed. Thank LBJ for making it profitable to be an unwed mother with no education, job or future.
There is internet access if you want to find it. It might not be as convenient as it would be if your parents didn’t suck at life.
Please keep in mind that 77% of AA children in this country grow up in a single parent household. Them not being able to afford internet in the house for $50 a month is a result of shitty decisions. Not because it isn’t readily available and pretty damn cheap.

I just like how you pointing out free resources is a privilege. Free
Posted on 5/14/21 at 9:18 pm to LSUBadger
So the kids are penalized for their parents shitty decisions? They are but if some of this can be mitigated I'm all for it.

Maybe they'll award admission points for the applicant's most creative use of computers to paste themselves in obscure sports not yet fully appreciated by the NCAA.
What sports? Purse snatching, sheep shearing, chicken sexing, caber tossing, cooking a dark roux, catching and eating seal blubber, turning linen into thread. Dancing with kelp instead of ribbon dancing. Kayaking UP rapids. etc.
