You just proved my point. The poor kids are trying to find internet while the rich kids have tutors mommy and daddy pay to perfect the kids test taking skills.

Where is the line where we have done enough? How far would the needle move if we spend even more billions to make internet access free for everyone? Those kids would still be well behind everyone else because their environment is crap. A nominal number would succeed. They would be better served in the long run if their mom lost her benefits for having kids, not working and doing a shitty job raising her kids. Reality would set in and in a generation a huge percentage would see that they have to work and they have to to be valuable members of society in order to have relative wealth

So yes. The kids are penalized by their parents shite decisions. It sucks. We all wish it wasn’t true. But it is the sad truth

Wish this were true, but it isn't.

If kids have "homework" then the WiFi and computers at school aren't going to help them. And just because mama receives welfare checks, free rent, and free everything else, it doesn't mean she's going to buy Junior a computer to do his work - especially when she thinks it's only the teacher's job to teach.

ESPECIALLY in the urban areas.

then why the hell do I pay for schools and libraries to have internet?

Schools give these kids computers for the year. They all have phones. And as someone said, public libraries are still open.

Are the libraries as convenient as hone internet? No. But they are available.

Yep. Colleges are already almost void of real academic presentation, and are just talking heads of liberalism.

I've joked that lab coats have become the equivalent of priestly robes.

But that's really true.

Scientists are the high priests of our secular society. And universities are becoming religious academies, where you learn to memorize the right thoughts, the way you do at a Madrassa.

How did this prove your point? I could walk around blindfolded and find free internet

I went to a decent enough school growing up. I dont know of one friend that had their parents pay for tutors to have their test taking skills perfected. Most of them did have a dad around though

You don't think colleges adjust for household income when looking at SAT/ACT scores of students?

More broadly, I find your worldview self-defeating.

You seem to think that being dealt a bad hand is an excuse not to try to get ahead.

Not all schools.

This is greatly exaggerated, not all kids have phones.

Yes, I know. Up until a few years ago, I worked in a public library. As a children's librarian. Covid changed a few things, but not everything.

you’re pushing 40 years old and you and your friends weren’t applying for Standord, CalTech, UCSB, UCLA, or Cal Berkeley though

It’s super competitive, the idiots melting itt have no idea how little SAT scores matter in the application process

But it’s a reason to melt by CaLiFoRnIa

Same with me. But times have changed. It's pretty normal for the middle class and up parents to pay for SAT prep classes for their kids. What is your love for SATs anyway? I don't remember an SAT score helping anyone except a few of the lazy classmates that we knew were smart but they just weren't motivated. A couple of them scored really high and got some money that way.

We did one weekend of prep? It was vaguely school sponsored, they brought in someone to talk about the test.

I don't remember anyone getting tutored. People were either hard workers, smart, or a mix of the two. And everyone did at least okay, and that was fine.

The reason we get frustrated greenrock is because the govt funds so much of the daily bills of these households and yet they still magically can't "afford" things.

Where is the money they take home going??

they don't have to pay for their full rent (they have section 8)

They don't have to pay their food bills (they have SNAP)

They don't have to pay for air conditioning, health insurance, etc.

Those are all HUGE expenses that they don't have to worry about.

Poor asians and poor jews on those programs are able to somehow get educational resources to their children.

The fact of the matter, and study after study shows this, is that black parents do not invest in their childrens' education as much as other groups. It is a finding of EVERY study.

I dont have some love for them but it's a pretty damn good indicator of how smart you are. I know which ones of my friends are the smart ones and which ones arent. None of the smart ones were getting 20s on the ACT just like none of the not smart ones were getting 33s.

The end goal here for your side is for everyone to get a college degree regardless of what it takes. Well congrats if that happens because now the degree is worthless because everyone has one.

Bruh if you're stupid, letting people in ain't gonna make a difference. They're not gonna know the curriculum and if you just out right pass them and give them a degree. They'll be useless in the work force.

You're almost the same age but have no room to be educating me on college education.

If the admission process is so competitive, why take out a pretty large measuring stick for said students?
