The fact of the matter, and study after study shows this, is that black parents do not invest in their childrens' education as much as other groups. It is a finding of EVERY study.
Yes, that's what I was trying to say in my post, but I wasn't very blatant about it.
The children aren't given the tools because of THEIR parents, not because the mean old librarian won't teach them how to read at the library. The parent(s) expect everything to be given to them, so they spend the little cash they do have on themselves, and NOTHING on their children.
One time a summer camp came to my library, and I sat down on the floor to read to the kids, a little girl came to play with my hair, and she said "your hair is so soft, and so clean"
WTF do parents do to their kids?

congrats if that happens because now the degree is worthless because everyone has one.
An education is worthless because everyone is educated? You must have scored very low on your ACT.

A specialized education that is/was supposed to be a differentiator is worthless if it is no longer a differentiator.

Your post implies that college is the only way to become educated. That is incorrect. College was supposed to be for the brightest, most intelligent. By removing standards to enter and begin that process, it weakens the worth of that degree. Exclusivity is not some evil thing, as long as it’s applied properly and equally. Eliminating standardized methods of comparison will ensure this doesn’t happen.

So a smart kid should be penalized because their parents didn't invest in them? In other words, toss those kids to the trash heap because of their parents.

I scored so low that my graduate school professor encouraged me for years to become a math professor because of my shittastic act score.
When the bar is set so low and people are pushed through, I wouldn't call them educated.
College across the board is a joke now anyway so hey just let everyone in. For free also

I haven’t brought race into this discussion once.
Smart kids score well on standardized tests.

What was their act score?
Smart kids will do well on the test regardless of their shithead parents

We are talking about the UC system which is a group of very competitive schools to get in to. We ain't talking about LSU.

Smart kids score well on standardized tests. Regardless of what school they are applying too. If theses underprivileged kids really are that smart, they will crush these tests and it will stand out.

College was supposed to be for the brightest, most intelligent. By removing standards
But oH nO she didn’t have to submit her SAT so how will they ever know if she is a good candidate or not

Good for her. I hope she did well. It still doesn’t refute the fact that standardized tests are applicable and useful ways to differentiate between candidates.
What if her interviewer was a real dickhead? What if he let his personal bias influence his opinion of your niece?

Smart kids that have tutoring and test prep score better.

Look I went into it red pulled as frick, but after being involved and seeing the process, I can understand the logic a little better on why they just decided to do away with the standardized test. There didn’t seem to be much weight given to it anyway.

And they shall reap what they sow.
Simple enough.

What does this have to do with what we are talking about? Four short essays to probably figure out a little more than her intelligence level
It's weird that you move to Cali and all of a sudden act like it's the promised land and you're above us plebs.
I've got a friend that works in finance, went to UCLA. I've got a very good friend from orange county, former head doctor at oschner, from a family of doctors who all went to the schools you're touting. They will sit here and tell you the sucking off of these Cali state universities like they're the pinnacle of education is laughable

I had to do something similar for LSUs Honor College 20 years ago

And this is a problem in my eyes because they are valid comparisons and the least subjective.
