It has been confirmed that the officer is ON Duty and acting as an independent contractor while directing traffic in the morning

Many people just dont know the terms police use.

On Duty detail is a detail you are assigned during your shift...it is part of your regular 40 hour work week

Off Duty detail is an overtime detail you work through your department outside of your 40 hour work week.....but you are still on duty.

Secondary employment is a side gig that you work that is not through your department and you are not on duty and do not have the same authority.....except if a crime is committed and you have to react to it.

They are dealing with it.

And what do you mean by "those people"?

You meant to say people are dumb enough to live in a development with only one way out and in.

They were dumb enough to believe the developer when he told them of plans to build additional entrance/exits.

Then there are folks who move into a nice development only to see another separate development tie into their development instead of having their own entrance/exit.

The developers pretty much do what they want to do and that causes more traffic issues for everyone.

So if he is on duty and working as an independent contractor wouldn’t he be violating some ethics provision? I’m pretty sure you can’t be working your public position and being compensated by some one other than your agency.

This would be illegal. This goes whether it is over time or not. You can only be paid once for performing your public job. If you’re paid twice, it’s wrong. If this officer is getting paid through the department then that means they are showing special treatment to this neighborhood. That’s completely arbitrary. Just wait till a wreck happens. Sheriffs department will be getting sued.

Why yes dude that is what they do....... you can also see them from hundreds of feet away. You can’t see a person standing in the road as well.

If only there was some device that would indicate that the car in front of you were applying their brakes.

I agree. Whoever is paying for this cop to direct traffic is gonna be in a world of sh*t when Gordon gets his hands on them after a person driving on LA 30 is rear ended and injured due to the cop stopping traffic on a state highway to let residents out of a neighborhood.

and yet cops stop traffic at weekly church services, schools, funerals, etc. and there's rarely (if ever) an accident. But this is gonna be the big one.

get the frick over it people.

Frick you dude. I'd be pissed if my commute was extended an additional 20-30 minutes from this as well.

This is a terrible precedent being set.

Nearly every major city has off duty cops holding traffic for people to get out of parking garages in their business districts at rush hour.

We aren't talking about a business district now are we?

We are talking about a stupidly designed subdivision avoiding "traffic impact fees/mitigation" during their construction phase and then whining loudly enough to receive approval for a traffic cop.

Furthermore, they keep expanding the subdivision without improving access.

Don't they have a turn lane, what's the issue? wait for an opening in one direction, then the other. Not difficult

sounds like we are also talking about a bunch of pissy, jealous people who are whining that the rich(er) people are getting what richer people always get. Special treatment. Again, get over it. Or get rich.

then get mad and go bitch at the planning commission or whoever approved/approves the neighborhood. Aint the residents fault.

They are apparently too stupid to apply the brakes when they see brake lights in front of them. Quit trying to reason with them.

It was actually a simple, standard process to receive approval. No whining required.

guess you never encounter a traffic light or a school bus on your way to work? Or do you not stop for those? And if the cop disappears and they place a traffic light at the subdivision entrance, wont you still have to stop-occasionally?

nah, nothing special. But I don't get my panties in a wad cause I have to stop along my way to work. Oh and by the way, I'm not the entitled one who feels inconvenienced cause I have to stop on LA 30 for a cop. But you keep on being you.

of course you could try and make more money and then you could afford to live in the "entitled" neighborhood too. No trailers allowed though.

Is the city too poor to implement proper traffic controls? Seems like a class action lawsuit to me.
