After certain groups (seen below), United passengers flying economy and assigned window seats will board first. This will cut down on the amount of times people already seated have to stand in the aisle to let another person sit down, according to the memo. The new boarding process, known as “WILMA,” will begin for flights on Oct. 26, the airline said. WILMA stands for window-middle-aisle. All window seat passengers will board the plane first, followed by passengers with middle seats, and then passengers with aisle seats.

I agree with this

Pretty damn logical

Hope American adopts this.

I’m willing to give this a shot

Mythbusters proved this as the way to do it years ago...
Will be interesting to see how they handle priority boarding based off status and overhead space.

That sucks...that will give the window people first dibs on overhead space. I'm an aisle guy. Terrible idea.

They’ll just start charging for bags going in the overhead bins - I think they already do for regular arse economy

I always thought that the plane should be boarded back to front.
But I get it: first class when would they board. The people that select the larger roomer seats in front of plane would board last - so this would probably never happen

And this is a bad thing why?

It makes TOTAL sense strictly from a seating perspective
The problem is overhead bins.
Aisle seats get absolutely fricked.

I wear it as a badge of honor to be able to stow my carry on and get into my seat in a matter of seconds.

Here is a wild idea....board the plane from the back to the front. No more waiting for people to get their luggage in the overhead bin in holding up the entire boarding process

Great with adults but splitting groups with elderly, children or dumb/nervous first timers could cause problems.

Overhead bin space only issue, but this makes a ton of sense.

They should board the obese last. Walk of shame.

This only applies to non-Elites. They will still get to board in groups 1-2 and have space to store bags.

I always hate the awkward part of boarding early and trying Not to make eye contact with everyone as the pass.
