Was just in grapevine tx hotel that had an AA plave incoming for a landing every 90seconds outside my window. Couldve been me in those negotiations.

Did it have the rooftop pool? I stayed there about 10 years ago and drank some beers while watching planes land, it was awesome!

How is this different from Jetblue/Spirit that got slapped down?

That would shouldn't have been.

This one should.

This would definitely be interesting. I wonder how close that would put them on market share and bumping up against anti-trust laws.

FTC/DOJ would absolutely be involved. I think this would be hard to push through.

I fly United all the time.

Delta used to be my go to, but they have fallen off for me.

Both airlines are head and shoulders above most other airlines. I just don’t like the fact of less options. Competition is good for the consumers if there’s less airline options they will create a monopoly and the consumers will suffer.

How does a CC stop delays and cancellations?

Huh.

I fly American exclusively and never had a problem. Only time I had to deal with delays or cancellations were around weather events big enough to be at least meationed on national news and it would be stupid to blame the airline for that.

I prefer American over the other airlines. Delta is a better overall experience, but they want to send me to Atlanta for literally every flight path.

ETA: Not a big fan of United.

consolidation is good when it brings two smaller airlines up to scale to be more competitive against larger airlines

i dont see how combining two of the largest airlines in the world is good for consumers at all

Consider yourself lucky.

I’ve had 4 unplanned overnight layovers with AA on connecting flights in the last year and a half

If you're going suggest changes that will never happen why not go with most efficient method: back to front windows, back to front center, then aisle?

The difference is these guys have much deeper pockets and have alot of money riding on this. I expect they will use the time honored American tradition of throwing money at the right politicians to try to push this through. In my opinion this is a merger that will completely screw the public. Both airlines can make money on their own. A merger of these 2 basically will make a defacto monopoly for most us airports.

My home sits right inline with approach and those planes fly over my house every day. I mostly ignore them, but once in a while, due to weather, they come in a lot lower, and are really loud, especially as they drop the landing gear and it makes a loud moaning sound. It's the best way to describe it. Sounds like Chewbacca.

The vast majority of people with some vendetta against an airline are idiots who think they chose not to fly for the hell of it versus it actually being completely out of their control.

This is true, but there is a pretty clear hierarchy of perceived quality.

I wouldn't blame AA for a cancelled flight necessarily, I would blame their miserable arse personnel for being unhelpful and unsympathetic about it, though, especially if you have status and got lukewarm treatment.

The reality is that most people will have the best experience with a carrier invested in their home base. But if you talk to hometown Delta people in Atlanta and hometown AA people in Dallas there really isn't a comparison in enthusiasm.
