Having briefly been a member of the press for a time in my life, I can tell you that you are exactly correct. It reduces the chances of getting sued for defamation infinitely.

My cousin has hung out with him 10-15 times. And good friends with his best friend. Apparently this is a crazy and saw no issues prior. Crazy how sick people can be. Dude should be fried quickly.

They usually use the middle name of perps supposed presumably to be more specific and not inadvertently harm the reputation of someone with the same first and last name.

Supposedly he had an ex-girlfriend at UNT that he was stalking & unrelated to the victim. He was in the area looking for the ex or trying to get back with her. He also had a lot of social media posts lamenting the breakup. It should be noted I saw somewhere the ex was 18, he's 30.
