This is asinine...
"Buron said the two students received a five-day in-school suspension after the picture drew the attention of Lacey Township High School officials, who argued that it violated the school’s policy on weapons possession".

Was the shooting range at the school?

If they'd posted a photo of themselves burning the American flag or eating Tide pods, they would have received certificates of achievement.

"Information posted on social media is incorrect,” Lacey schools Superintendent Craig Wigley told the publication last week. The officials declined to provide any additional details or point out what exactly was false.
Code for "Yeah, we did suspend them for the picture, but we now are scrambling to figure out a way to reverse this without looking like a bunch of asshats."
Too late.

That’s ridiculous.
And I’m a liberal FWIW
ETA: at the downvotes. The only reason I point out my leanings is to show some of the people on here that are things that both sides should an do agree are ridiculous.

School has stated that they haven't been suspended. Or they weren't suspended because of the photos.
Could read it either way.

Wow...directly from the student handbook
quote:

That has to be a private school, right?
Posted on 3/19/18 at 7:58 am to Ole War Skule
I can’t see how that’s legal. If it was a private school I think it would be because they can set their own bylaws but a public school? Hmmm
ETA: just checked. Definitely a public school.

Hmmmmm,
If this school is a public school and receives federal funding, this should be a clear-cut case of denial of a citizen's second amendment rights.

Yeah. If it's a private school, then whatever. You know what situation you're getting into by attending.

It's actually a public school.
Yeah this won't go over well. Not sure how it made it to the handbook without someone saying, hey this may not be the greatest idea.

also, reading the FB group, it is comforting to know that all neighborhood FB groups are basically the exact same thing
people posting lost dogs, bitching about speeding, bitching about yards, bitching about some business, or asking for recommendations for haircuts or handyman

Well, that's an easy lawsuit win if true.
