LOL... BR and the metro area gained 100K+... and that’s on the low end... I got here in 02 when it was absolutely no traffic

I wasn't talking about who moved to Gonzales, Denham or Prairieville. The city of BR didn't gain that many permanent residents from Katrina. The population now is about what it was in 1980.

Some family that moved to Ascension parish from Orleans 15 years ago likely doesn't have anything to do with crime in Baton Rouge.

If you build it they will come. As in section 8 housing on S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. that’s perpetual criminal activity.

Eastgate has been sketchy for well over 20 years

My uncle has been living in Eastgate since 06 and I can’t tell how many times his house has been broken into. He claims they are mostly teenagers “who are bored” so he’s not concern about it that much

I grew up in Camelot in the late 90s/early 2000s and loved living there. There were lots of young families and kids around my age to hang out with. Now it’s on the decline and its like is piece of your childhood is being take from you.

The locals are going hard during the year end close out. Those set of steak knives for passing last years totals must be really nice.

Apparently it must be OK and not against the law to squat on public land and litter it profusely.

That's what you get with Broome

How ironic!

I drove by the scene before the cops arrived. Dude was laying on the ground his chest not moving with someone who looked like an EMS guy trying to talk to him, and a chick pacing and screaming into a phone.

How terrible. Dude has a business for 20 years and his reward is to get shot dead in it.

Yep,

Had 2 close friends that lived in that area over that time and went to STM. They were the higher end of the income spectrum then. Hope their parents got out.

Mine still live in Sherwood forest. Place has really become a dump in the last 10 years.

Yeah there’s no correlation between gentrification of NOLA and surrounding cities being worse off, you fricking moron.

My grandmother still lives in Sherwood Forest. But she lives near the corner of Sharp and Goodwood which isn’t a bad area...yet.

While the “leadership” in this city are trying to decide whether to give some scumbag, gun wielding felon’s family $5M or $2.5M for getting shot while resisting arrest, this guy gets shot to death at noon on a Friday and his family will probably get an invoice from the coroner.

Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
