Awesome to see kids actually playing outside then on their phones or video games. In highschool, we actually had a snow day in North Louisiana. So me and my friends played tackle football in the snow. What sucked for them, I was the only one that had football cleats.

Years later during Thanksgiving, the young ones played football while we were waiting for the feast. Like you, I decided to join. But age caught up with me and pulled a hamstring. Sucks getting old.

Out in the country as a kid we played in the empty lot in front of our house with 8 cousins, and knew that a tackle game was on every time there was a good rain - was like Vince Papale in "Invincible".

Thats whats up!! Thats the lost treasure that we grew up with. Playing outside until dark and no phones was the best of times.

Pine cone football at the bus stop ( back when kids didn’t get concierge bus service) was the best.

Is that why we’re so much better at football down here in the South? Kids play tackle football in the streets down here. Not no two hand touch.

It is supposed to be touch, the unwritten rules is more like old school rugby. If you came home without blood and dirt in the South, you were not playing football. You might say it was touch to appease your mom but your dad knew the truth.

Two hand touch?! Pansies! We used to play tackle and our goal lines were the sidewalks leading up to the front doors of adjacent houses. It’s a miracle no one died during those games. Fun times…

Kids outside on a non-electric scooter or bike is a big win these days.

If you don't know what P for K stands for you should not post in this thread. Also, we only played tackle football, not lame arse two hand touch. Drank out of the water hose and every game devolved into us playing smear the queer.

I realize that would be a hate crime in Bend, Oregon. Plus, P for K would be Pedos for Kiddos.

One of the first things I noticed when I moved to small town in TX was the number of kids that ran around outside. Granted a lot of them are moving around on 20k golf carts with sound systems.

The thing that I get the biggest kick out of is the 3 kids planning to sneak on golf course to fish. They banned everyone from fishing the ponds last year due to “safety”. The kids walk behind my house on their way to course, and go over escape routes and where each one is stashing their bike. Some days they are headed back within the hour doing an after action report on where they failed, others it’s right after dark arguing over who caught most/biggest fish.

Actually, when referring to the deep south, culturally, south Louisiana isn't deep south, but Alabama.. The whole state, is deep south.

I tried this in north DFW but none of my neighbors speak English or know what a football is.

They do play cricket every Saturday in the park

How many controversial ‘one’ hand touch tackles? There’s always that whiney fella (about the dude who is usually slow).

Kidding

Great stuff!

Did this all the time as a kid. Can’t say I’ve ever seen it from kids these days.
