Sometimes tackle, sometimes touch. We usually had a few tomboys wanting to play so it was touch for them when they had the ball. But they could tackle you. We had the Aaron St field, Tx Hey field, the Methodist field, and canal st field. Later in the A. F at Keesler had a friend from here and we would play two west coast boys 2 on 2 tackle. Must of played 5 or 6 times, after one had to go to the hospital for deep muscle hemorrhage. Got kneed in the thigh on a 5 out and up.

On Crawford Street in Kosciusko, MS, we played tackle football across three back yards where there were no fences. We used two clotheslines you had to cross under as goals. We played where you could play the ball off of the hedges. So it was a little like rebounding a basketball.
There was no organized football until you got to the 7th grade. We played all day on Saturday and Sunday in the fall and winter. When you got to junior high, the coaches told you not to play anymore sandlot tackle ball.

I’d have given it a shot. I’d be sore for 3 days lol.
My friends and I played all the time. Only during the actual pro seasons? For some damned reason. Pro bowl ended and we switch to baseball.
One and ONLY one time we played street tackle. Put on jeans and long sleeve shirts at least. Somebody’s mom must have checked on us and stopped it.

Hell if I know. I just remembered we got a lot of snow in Shreveport. Had to be in 85 or 86. Also we lived by cross lake. One year we had three weeks were the temp never got above freezing. Froze cross lake and the red river. Fell off my Pier and separated my shoulder on the lake.

It snowed like a mug in 85. Many kids in Pineville had never seen snow. Kids in school were jumping out of windows.
