The video was filmed in 1929. One man claimed to be 94 and the other 84. If true, both would have been the right age to have served as young men.

Both claim they served for the Confederacy under General Price. One man was at the Battle of Wilson's Creek in Missouri and claims he witnessed General Lyon's death. Several thousand Rebels surrounded Lyon. Lyon went down after he ran out of ammo and was throwing rocks. The man in the video claims Lyon struck a rebel in he head with a rock then another rebel named John Morgan pulled out his pistol and killed Lyon.

I cannot find any other source for the rock throwing, etc., but it is well documented Lyon was killed at the battle. So either this guy was a Civil War buff and added his own BS version of events OR he knows these details because he really was there. (Stolen valor was a thing in the Civil War days as well). I tend to believe them because they appeared to be at some type of veteran reunion celebration, so it's doubtful they would have been able to fool everyone.

Either way, it's a pretty cool story.

EDIT: Correction, it seems the man telling the story was a rebel.

War is hell, and the fact that we think there is such a thing as right and wrong in war is foolish. Rules in warfare is a modern creation and a lie.

Sherman was no more a terrorist than Paul Warfield Tibbets Jr, who dropped the bomb on Hiroshima.

Sherman dabbed on and cucked the Confederates so hard their kids spent the next 100 years taking it out on the blacks. Now the blacks get to dab on and cuck the Confederates great great grand kids for the next 100 years through violent crime and taking their tax dollars.

So to raze and plunder an area out of spite is no different than dropping a bomb as a response to an ambush?

For fricks sake, can’t we just have a discussion about the story in the OP?

Well, you could have used your first post in this thread to do so. Instead you chose to extend not talking about the OP

Yes war is hell. That’s why I don’t understand after 20 years of it we are trying to involve ourselves in another one halfway across the world.

That’s quite the spin zone. He razed and plundered Georgia for the same reason we dropped the A Bomb: the other side wouldn’t quit fighting.

No he wasn't. He is an American hero who helped keep our great country unified. He just had to burn down and pillage the slavers and traitors in Atlanta, which was the right move. A show of power was necessary to end the War ASAP and save more American lives in the long run.

One of the most famous tanks in human history that was used to fight the Nazi's in WWII is also named after this legendary man.

always amuses me that the actual soldiers got over it to the point they had annual reunions with the other side while current day pussies who couldn't trace their heritage back that far want to gloat about it

Not to distract from the OP but not really. It was very reliable and easy to manufacture. It wasn’t built to go toe to toe with the German tigers or panthers but once it was up gunned to the 76 it was a damn fine tank

I think we should start a campaign to outline the war-crimes he committed and have him canceled...

I mean, putting aside his Civil War service, his actions and views during the Indian Wars were pretty brutal....not to mention his support of killing all the buffalo.

In their home state and counties? You do realize the North invaded the South, right?

Abolitionists in the North begged for a negotiation to pay for the end of slavery. Republicans and Lincoln rejected the idea citing the costs.

They also could have kept slavery confined to the South and many believed it would eventually wither out with the advancement of mechanical farming.
