We all go to Spanish Moon. Place has great drink specials on Tuesday nights.

Agreed. If I'm drunk I definitely don't want a cold sandwich from a place that doesn't own a toaster.

Would be nice if BR ever decided to embrace food trucks. There are about half a dozen lots around there that could be converted

I guess one way to do that is be a minority and own a food truck.

I heard they’re charging $5 for a wristband that will get you into Happy’s, Bourdeaux and Thibs, and City Bar.

The only place that charges cover is City Bar, and that is only on certain nights. I have never paid a cover at Happy’s or Boudreaux and Thib’s.

George, I can't even remember when the last time I went out during the week when I had work the next day. If I do anything during the week, it would be trivia.

Have definitely seen B&Ts charge a cover. Usually due to a band they booked. Which sometimes leads to them having a cover and all of 7 people inside the building.

I've never seen a cover at City Bar, but I do know they get DJs in so I imagine that's when they charge cover.

I haven't paid to go into a bar (other than going see a legitimate live show at Varsity or something) in years. I already spend enough money when I go out as it is.

I haven’t been to city bar since atleast they did the renovation and probably much longer before that but they pretty consistently charged a cover on Friday/Saturday nights due to those DJs. But I’ve seen them hold the line and charge a cover to make it seem more busy than it is, and then when you walk in you double to population of the bar

Not in the last year and a half you haven’t. Spanish Moon closed for renovations when they were bought out by the Republic New Orleans. They were supposed to reopen last fall but still haven’t.

Broom could also do more to recruit conventions to the city.

SWB would have to hire an out of state company to do a study before she could make a decision on that...

Besides the fact that it is filled with douchebags, I avoid City Bar also because the upstairs situation freaks me out. I've seen that video from the nightclub fire years ago where everyone died trying to push through the small exit door, and I think about it every time I'm upstairs at City Bar.

I think Mark Emmert wanted LSU to buy up all the land around Nicholson all the way to the bridge and do just that. Like what the Water Campus is doing, just on a larger scale.

“Closed for renovations” is BR-speak for “we went bust.”

It’s going to be renovated and opened as something entirely different.

The simple answer is that guys don’t go downtown as much anymore because 20-something aged white women don’t go downtown as much anymore. As to why the white girls don’t do so is a variety of factors, of which the open container enforcement is one. The main reason is that there are better, closer options with better parking.

I have never felt unsafe at Perkins Rowe. They have a lot of free public events and I have never seen or heard of any problems. Sorry that happened to you but the Rowe is a nice place.

I remember them having some issues with teenagers getting into trouble, so maybe that was the break-in.

Agreed. I think the Uber cost is a big one as well. When BR became DUI-city, people stopped driving as much. And downtown just doesn't have many residents.

The cover for all three bars, recently had been implemented the previous two weekends.

i bet you that is some sort of psycological experiment to get people to subconsciously want to go to the bars if they know they've already paid the cover. They might be more likely to pop in and order a drink.

Also I laughed at the OP having punchers in the list, that probably hasn’t been called punchers in like 10 years and I might run out of characters trying to list all the names that bar has been opened under since
