surprised Werner pays this well. What are you making per mile? If not by the mile, how are you paid?

on my route I get paid 72cpm, 250 a load as I have some abbreviated unload procedures and around 1500 miles a week. Your pay increases by the amount of months you have worked and years etc. I average about 3 loads a week but if I did another load, I'd make over 2k a week easily. I can usually do 3 loads(3 to 5 stops per load) from Monday-Thursday. If i do a 4th load ill be done saturday before noon, maybe even late friday night depending on size of load and usually and be off till Monday. A truck driver can choose to be no touch or touch deliveries, otr and depending on endorsements you can make more. Hazmat and tanker endorsements bring in way more $$$.

Trucking is a solid profession that most people brush off as if they’re too good for it. They’re mostly good, hard working people just trying to provide for their families.

Our drivers made between $75-$90k last year with owner ops clearing $120K+ after expenses. This is mostly gulf coast region, home a couple nights a week and most weekends.

And someone conceived of it, designed it, built it or the machine that produced it, worked out production deals, marketed it, etc.

You can be happy with your profession and the money you make without getting a big head about it.

My dad was a driver for a bridge building company for like 35 years. When he finally retired his knees were shot from all the in and out of the truck.

It was fun riding with him as a kid.

My son is a company driver for Legends Transportation out of California. He lives north of Houston in Conroe. His dedicated route is the West Coast, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. He prefers to stay west of the Mississippi River as the roads are better, less congestion and fewer toll roads.

Bad areas to drive - New England and the Mid Atlantic Coast. He refuses to drive anywhere near New York City and Boston.

He is usually able to get home for 3-5 days per month. He will get paid the last installment of his $10k sign on bonus in February. He will then look for something in the Houston area where he can be home at least once per week. Being on the road constantly means you have no life other than driving.

Like MLK Jr. said, no matter what you do, be the best you can be and proud of it! Thanks to the truckers who keep us going.

There’s a few of us here! I just recently got back into the training side at PTL, am at .68 now for all truck miles. If I stick with it (I’ve given it up before) 100k will be easy. Glad things are working out for you. Btw are you on a dollar account? Kinda sounds that way with the high rate/low miles with multi stops. Edit: otr in a ‘20 Cascadia

Huge truckers shortage now. I expect they can make a lot of money.

I have read that a lot of retirees pick it up as a retirement gig, do team driving and just go all over seeing the country. Doesn't sound too bad.
