I'm not saying you are wrong, but I've seen this repeated often throughout the thread and seen no supporting basis for the statements. Just curious as to where that information came from?

The timeline is an all timer here

-black kid brings knife to a track meet and kills white kid
-family grifts off of BLM and brings in $500k+ from a gofundme
-family blows the money on a new house and escalade
-can’t afford to hire a real attorney after blowing said money
-kid gets convicted of murder

Shite literally reads like a South Park episode 10 years ago

The claims of the house and the car were proved to be internet rumor. Snopes clarified.

I did see someone trying to claim it was a cleat sharpener once the verdict was reached. Stood her ground even after everyone reminded her that the defense and Karmelo all said it was a knife.

Yea, no. The money donated to the killer's family isn't to the Metcalf's detriment.

SAN ANTONIO – A jury on Friday awarded $110 million in compensatory damages and $100 million in punitive damages to Andreen McDonald’s mother and young daughter, according to the Davis Law Firm.

“Plaintiffs have been caused to sustain mental anguish, pecuniary loss, and loss of society from the time of the incident in question up to the present time, and will, in all probability, continue to suffer such mental anguish in the future,” the lawsuit stated.
quote:

Last February, 399th District Court Judge Frank Castro sentenced McDonald to the maximum 20-year sentence after a jury convicted him on a lesser charge of manslaughter. He was also sentenced to an additional five years in prison in a plea deal for a charge of tampering with evidence.

Unjust Enrichment Findings: Plaintiffs often intentionally include a gross negligence and unjust enrichment count in wrongful death suits. A jury's finding of unjust enrichment provides a legal foundation to create a bankruptcy-proof trust to protect assets (e.g., hidden accounts or future settlements) for the victim's children or dependents.

The question of "intent" is not whether Antnony intended to kill Metcalf. I doubt he did. It was whether he had intent to stab Metcalf. Which there was little to no dispute that he did. Implicit with stabbing someone in the chest/abdomen is the intent to cause serious bodily injury....which falls under the definition of murder under Texas law.

The below contains an “or”, so only 2 is required. A knife intentionally stabbed at and into the heart that causes that person’s death can only be taken as meeting #2 below.
quote:

A person commits an offense if the person:
(1) intentionally or knowingly causes the death of an individual;
(2) intends to cause serious bodily injury and commits an act clearly dangerous to human life that causes the death of an individual;
(3) commits or attempts to commit a felony, other than manslaughter, and in the course of and in furtherance of the commission or attempt, or in immediate flight from the commission or attempt, the person commits or attempts to commit an act clearly dangerous to human life that causes the death of an individual; or
(4) knowingly manufactures or delivers a controlled substance included in Penalty Group 1-B under Section 481.1022, Health and Safety Code, in violation of Section 481.1123, Health and Safety Code, and an individual dies as a result of injecting, ingesting, inhaling, or introducing into the individual's body any amount of the controlled substance manufactured or delivered by the actor, regardless of whether the controlled substance was used by itself or with another substance, including a drug, adulterant, or dilutant.

Shortly after 3:30, Karmelo Anthony returned to the courtroom. According to NBC 5's Maria Guerrero, who is inside the Collin County courthouse, Anthony was physically shaking and being held by a female defense attorney.

Judge John Roach was informed that the state agreed to the addition of "sudden passion" as the jury continues with the sentencing phase, meaning that the defense can argue that the murder was committed when the defendant was in an intense emotional state triggered by immediate provocation from the victim.

During voir dire, Prosecutor Dewey Mitchell explained that sudden passion is "a situation when someone is in such a state of emotion, based on something that just happened, that they don't have time to cool off."

If the jury agrees with the sudden passion argument, the charge is reduced to a second-degree felony, which lowers the punishment range to 2 to 20 years in prison.

Man, what the frick.

He hid the knife before asking Austin to touch him.

In the state of Texas you have to serve at least half for this type of offense

as quickly as the jury came back with a conviction, he's not getting a light sentence

Unless the white kid's dad pussies out again and gives them an out

i dont see that happening

How long before a federal district court judge in DC decides inexplicably to intervene and overturn this state court jury verdict?

This case is too cut and dry. They don't want to dig it up further, IMO.

I hope they are arguing football numbers like the score of the University of Texas vs the Little Sisters of the Poor on any given Saturday in the fall.
