The knife keeps getting shorter and shorter by the people on Court TV. Soon it will be a tooth pick
People keep saying this
A) like it matters
B) it flies in the face of the defense's main argument that he impaled himself on this long knife

If the jury was that quick to convict him, I see no reason why they don't go hard in the paint in the sentencing. They were gasping when it was suggesting he impaled himself and some were crying when they were showed pics of the gaping hole in his chest.. They aren't going to go light with sentencing

They are always victims. Never take accountability. Gotta be exhausting living like that.
It's probably easier.

My thoughts too.

Will there be a civil suit brought against the family so the Anthony family can not continue to enrich themselves off their convicted son?

Wonder if the parents would have any culpability in this on the civil side.
In Louisiana they would

Can’t tell those blacks nothing. They just yell louder and make noises and jump around. Fascinating behavior

It ain't over, they are going to appeal the verdict like KFC is giving away free chicken.
All they will need is a bleeding heart leftist judge to overturn the conviction and get a new trial.

Any ideas why the prosecution didn't have Austin's parents speak?
Maybe they felt confident about their argument without further dunking on this idiot.
It's likely they didn't want his cucked father asking for leniency

These "legal experts" also keep forgetting the second prong of the intent element. Its intent to kill OR inflict great bodily harm (or whatever Texas's exact quote is) that results in death
Stabbing someone intentionally is inherently intent to inflict harm. There's no argument to be made that he stabbed him without that intent
The experts are either really dumb, or disingenuously misapplying the requisite intent analysis. The question of "intent" is not whether Antnony intended to kill Metcalf. I doubt he did. It was whether he had intent to stab Metcalf. Which there was little to no dispute that he did. Implicit with stabbing someone in the chest/abdomen is the intent to cause serious bodily injury....which falls under the definition of murder under Texas law.
The only real question was whether or not Anthony's intent to stab Metcalf was driven by a reasonable fear, under the factual circumstances, of Metcalf causing Anthony great bodily harm? Based upon what was reported, the evidence presented at trial did not seem to rise to that level.
The narrative that Anthony only stabbing Metcalf once, instead of multiple times, with a "small" knife, somehow negated intent is BEYOND stupid.

Were there any compelling arguments on how this could potentially be seen as self defense?
Absolutely nothing to legally justify the use of immediate deadly force in self-defense.
Questionable on the evidence to legally justify the use of force (non-deadly) in self-defense claim on a lesser crime like assault.
One defense attorney tried to ask the pathologist (or whoever) some vague hypotheticals on if the knife could have been forced further into Austin’s chest and into his heart by Austin bending over or falling more into knife as the stabbing occurred like Austin played a part in knife getting to his heart, but it was shut down.
