I had a parent tell me the other day their kid wasn't going to play football this season, because they didn't want him "to ruin his baseball career".

He's in 6th grade for Christ's sake. Ruin his baseball CAREER???

I grew up playing ball in suburban Northern Virginia and my dad grew up playing in rural Illinois and always kept a level head when coaching/parenting me about sports. Granted NOVA isn't quite as talented as Southern Louisiana but it was still pretty good competition but I would say it was a healthy environment to play in. Barely any parents who made it miserable for their kids or for other people. I plan on signing my child up for baseball when the day comes but I may not be ready for the amount of shite I'll have to put up with compared to what I was used to growing up

LOL... I had my fun as a kid. I don't need to relive those dreams as a parent.

absolutely correct, those leagues are filled with parents who didn't achieve what they wished they did so this is their "chance" to live through their kids and potentially reach those goals. Killing the game for most kids for their own selfish reasons.

My daughter is dance and ballet. Does that same logic apply for me as her father?

They have their kids sit outside local establishments and beg for money on Saturdays. I would love to look at the P&L statement of these baseball academys. Travel ball is a fade that will implode when dad can't make the payment because his adjustable increased two points.

You can sugarcoat it all you want to, but you know going to the dance and ballet recitals is about on par with sandpapering your dick then pouring crab boil on it

Nah she’s not at all. Why would you think that? My wife was a gymnast and cheerleader. She never had any aspirations to make a career out of it.

I coached in the 80s, 90s, 2000s aand 2010s.... Those have always been the problem parents.. they have always been there...... If the koombahya crowd hadn't taken over wreck sports none of this shite would exist.... at least with travel ball coaches(the good ones and even some of the bad ones) get paid.....

if you think baseball is worst... it's not even in the top 5 or 6... for the BS...I coached this year - I had only had ONE time where I had to politely and fairly quietly tell a parent he crossed a line... actually years ago when alcohol was much more free flowing at kids sports it was significantly worse.....

one thing that has changed is with everything from scores to stats being online - and parents going to every game - parent pride causes some issues..... but a good coach can easily quell that..
