I'm sure they could stack them for a big tournament, but there's usually a pretty big drop (not in style of play, but the skill level of the top 3-4 kids) off between A and B teams in the big LA clubs. At least in our experience. Maybe that's just at the younger ages...and we've never played the north LA clubs.

More often than not it's a team from one of the five big clubs in LA that wins Presidents Cup. If it's not them, then it's a secondary club in one of the bigger markets like New Orleans or Lafayette. Looking at last year's results, the only team from a smaller city that won it was from Crossroads the Alexandria club.

Of course, size doesn't always matter when it comes to soccer clubs. There's an 02 girls team that plays under the banner of Covington Youth Soccer that dominates the state and is one of the best in the region. They've been able to maintain their level of success by drawing top players from other area clubs.

My bad, I thought President = State Cup, but I see that State is the A team tournament. The team my son played on for MS State scrimmaged the team that won LA State just before the Cups, and they kicked our arse. Bout the same as best team in MS, but there's no shame in losing to that quality of club.

My son got some great experience. Tough for his pride, but now he gets his shot at U13...and he knows what he'll see in a year.

The jump to 11v11 is significant. My daughters were lucky to have coaches in U11 and U12 who made them understand the tactical aspects of the game.
